Funny enough this has just been answered on RTG (post #314)

Pasted:
At Newcastle he inherited a side that had the likes of; Owen, Martins, Emre, Luque, Dyer, Solano, Duff, N'Zogbia, Milner, and Parker. That is in no way a side that lends itself to long ball football. That is a mobile, inventive, technically good, attacking side. Instead we sold a load of them and knocked it long for Viduka. We were comfortably midtable, had got to the 1/4s of the league cup, 3rd round of the FA cup, the round of 16 in the UEFA Cup, had a better than average defence and so on. He wasn't taking us on as relegation candidates.

His signings were;
Smith, Barton, Geremi - Combative midfielders
Abdoulaye Faye, Cacapa, Rozehnal - Big Strong Lump of a centre half, one and all
Beye, Enrique - to be fair, both good signings, but more defenders.
Viduka - a big strong powerful forward.

He got rid of;
Dyer, Parker, Solano, Luque,
Over one window he turned us into a long ball side and had that long ball football delivered similar "success" as the more attractive football did, I doubt we'd have disliked it so much. But the football was bloody awful and while we were getting results early on it was no surprise when the wheels soon fell off. We gave that Derby side their only win of the season because Allardyce played 3 defensive midfielders against the worst team in Premier League history, then brought on a lump of a centre half for one of those midfielders on the hour mark... lol

@cbwhu could tell you more about the football he played at West Ham, but it was dire at Newcastle and as I said, it's not like he didn't have quality players to play a more refined game.
The Fish who posted that is a total prick all of that yet he thinks Mr Potato Heed can do no wrong and all his signings are great. Bitter because Sam sent them down

As I said elsewhere, mainly his relationship with SAF...after all that whiskey nose accomplished, I doubt he'd have had as much time for Allardyce as he did if he didn't consider him a good football person and I trust Ferguson's judgement in that regard.

All I take with me on this new managerial adventure is hope and a desire to see Everton do well, as always...if we're better off when he leaves, then I've got no problems.

Sounding objective there like.

As I said respect all opinions and there's good and bad. I also know loads of ne supporters and I'd say 99% of Newcastle fans feel the same way.

Cant understand the negatives, back the man FFS!

Believe he will teach our defenders how to defend, especially positional wise (note the goal against Southampton with five players in a diagonal line), which is our biggest issue

With clean sheets we will win more games

Although I don't know what Sammy Lee will bring to the club except extra laundry?

The key improvement he brings over Koeman is ‘actual’ head size. Koeman flattered to deceive with his moon like cranium but Fat Sam is truly a grotesque with a noggin the size of an over ripe watermelon. ‘Lil Sam has been brought in to try to improve the average head size of the backroom staff, where Fat Sam was originally duped by his own ignorance into believing Big Dunc was appropriately adorned with a Giant Gourd and he also had misheard Joey Barton refer to Rhino’s obesity and thought it indicative of an outsized dome.
In the Mosh’s search for the largest managerial capitullum possible (perhaps driven by his own paltry coconut) he is truly an embellishment on all who preceded him!

We've got to get behind the man as he is now the EVERTON MANAGER. i disliked RK the moment of his first press conference and so far SA has beaten him on first impressions.

I hope he does a root and branch analysis of the god awful grub served up by Sodexo.

Together with transferring out the Jonah that is Carling
