I watched the Brazil game up until Richarlison went off last night
they obviously controlled the ball so much better than we do, but Allan played in the central position and orchestrated things well
however, until we get better on the ball and at building attacks (which having Rich back will help a lot) I think to get the best out of Allan he could do with being in a role where he is free to get around the pitch, rather than sit in the middle of the three

Yes, I noticed that. He spent a lot of time in their forward half and did OK in what I thought was a poor match.
Allan is a very tidy footballer who tries to do too much at the moment, because whoever has played alongside him and Doucouré has been limited. Get a decent man in there, instead of Siggy, Gomes or Tommy D and you will see Allan realize his full potential.

The concern is why is the recruitment team signing him then playing him in a position he isnt suited to?
All well and good waiting on a perma crock to be fit to play alongside him but he may never be fit/good enough to do so!
Doucoure seemed a good signing based on Allan sitting deeper but now you can see why Ancelotti wanted Hojbjerg who would have likely sat deeper and allowed Allan to move forward more.

There's no way any team is paying £30m for a player in Jan that they can agree to sign for free 6 months later. Always love these sources too, why would Bayern's hierarchy be giving information to someone who worked for Cologne on the whim?
Isco is right though, would prefer a pacy winger though.

I think the third midfielder/Gomes magically coming good is crucial. The midfield with a bit of a playmaker with some technical ability works imo which is a bit annoying considering we tried to build a brand new midfield in the summer.
In 6 months I reckon Allan will have grown into the role and be a lot more disciplined and be well up there in terms of DM’s in the league so hopefully it isn’t too much of a problem

I would love a fit Isco but he looks slightly overweight to me which would leave us in the same situation we have with Gomes being Immobile.
If he can get to fitness then hopefully the rumours are true and we get him in during the January window otherwise I still think James in the centre with a pacey wide player coming in would make sense.
