Considering its all time and you have Dixie and Ball in there ,what about the vision and KendallGiven it's the week of the derby game I thought it would be interesting to see people's combined all time 11. I would ask that you try and be objective, but I realise there's little chance of that!!
Anyway, mine would be
Southall
Stevens Hansen Ratcliffe Baines
Dalglish Ball Souness Sheedy
Dean Rush
Right back was a tricky one, as I don't think either team has had an absolute world class right back. Same with left wing, I could put Heighway in there, or maybe even Kanchelskis but Sheedy is there simply for goals and set plays as much as anything else. I know I might get stick for putting Souness in there, but he had the tackling qualities of Reid, but also offered more in the attacking 3rd and scored more goals.
I'm only 50 so apologies that there are only 2 "oldies" in there in Alan Ball and Dixie Dean. Feel free to put your own cases forward (But not Jimmy Case). Obviously any visiting reds might think it's surprising that they only get 4 players in there, but this is my honest opinion.
the could be called the Traitors xiCould you fill a strong full XI with players who have played for both clubs?

On the first bit, absolutely agreed. If you are talking about players exactly as they were in their playing days, then not a single player from any time before the mid to late 90's would get into these sorts of teams. They simply wouldn't be able to cope with the physical aspects (particularly the speed) of the game today. You see that’s the problem with comparing players of different periods. I think Baines was very much like Arnold today, great on the attack but couldn’t mark a man in a phone box
Beardsley too.I don't think there's enough players in enough positions for it to work sadly
Gary Ablett would have to be the captain I think, as he's a player we all like whether we be Blue or Red
And David Johnson.Beardsley too.
And if you allowed the contact that was part and parcel of the game up to the eighties, then most of today’s players would throw the towel before August was outOn the first bit, absolutely agreed. But if you're just talking about ability, and assuming that modern training methods/lifestyles/sports nutrition etc were applied to all the players, then it becomes more interesting.
On the second part, Baines was about 5x the defensive player TAA is.
Only if you play a very ropy looking 352. Midfield and attack looks good, defence less so unless you cheat and throw Alan Harper or Dave Watson in there who were on their books but never played.Could you fill a strong full XI with players who have played for both clubs?

Sandor Westerveld
Abel Xavier
Gary Ablett
David Burrows
Nick Barmby
Steve McMahon
Don Hutchison
Kevin Sheedy
David Johnson
Dave Hickson
Peter Beardsley
Kanchelskis was better than Dalglish and Rooney (you didn't state which timespan? Man United Rooney) was better than Rush.
Man United Rooney was better than Rush. However Kanchelskis was no Dalglish. As much as I hate to say it but
