Wilson would be a shoe-in, mind you there is the possibility that he wouldn’t last long when a few of the prima donnas he was up against scuffed their nail polish
Baines is one of the best left backs I've seen full stop, not just for Everton. A level below Ashley Cole and Maldini, but comparable to most others.

You see that’s the problem with comparing players of different periods. I think Baines was very much like Arnold today, great on the attack but couldn’t mark a man in a phone box

Here is my 'They played for Spurs & RS/Everton' team.

Ray Clemence

Ziege - Gough - Ruddock - Van Den Hauwe

Pienaar - Gazza - Souness - Ginola

Keane - Lineker

Subs. Barmby, Rednapp, Crouch, Mimms, Stewart, Samways.

My dad talks about Tommy Eglington. What type of player was he?
I suppose, typical left winger of the time. Short, fast and strong. Had a good shot on him and scored goals. He never seemed to get injured and was an 'ever present' in the Everton team. You could imagine the programme having his name in even before the team was picked. There would be one other name too - Peter Farrell the captain. What a player he was. Another one who never seemed to get injured.

This Season

Allison
Godfrey - Keane - Mina - Digne
Doucoure - Allan - Fabinho
James - DCL - Salah

That's how close we are to being a top 4 side also - a Keeper, Defensive Midfielder and Pacey Striker
