As heretical as this might sound, if Yanks II do walk away from the RS I wouldnt mind Kenwrong picking up the phone to them - after all, we would cost probably less than a third of what the [Poor language removed] would despite having a turnover half the size of them (and thats with a somewhat shambolic commercial side), the squad would cost less to improve than the RS would (and is loads cheaper in terms of the wage bill), we have a highly-rated manager, a recent record of relative success and we already have inroads into the growing markets people chunter on about.

If they are looking to grow a business in the EPL, we are a far better bet than the RS.

I agree that the basic comparison suggests we're worth a punt. The difference between us and Liverpool though is that they have an enormous global following that can be tapped into from a number of media platforms. John Henry 'grew' the Red Sox through tv deals (as well as massively hiking ticket prices, like). He's going into Liverpool and, along with the other plutocrats amongst the PL ownership stable, he'll be eyeing up an end to collective bargaining over braodcasting rights. How Everton would cope in an 'every club for itself' world is harder to determine.

This was my thought, for the bank to to acquire the club from the holding comany, (in order to sell to the "new yanks"), doesn't that automatically mean "administration" ???

right that makes sense, it seems the act of the bank seizing the club should constitute administration. really hope they don't find a way to weasel out of this

This is the other side of the Everton ownership debate nobody seems to consider. If we want new owners are we all happy to see ticket prices balloon? I'm thinking the answer is a cautious yes if it means champions league football in a new stadium, but no if it means similar football at Goodison Park. And ticket prices would have to be astronomical to pay for both a new stadium AND a champions league investment into the squad. (let alone the rapid transit rail link that trainspotter keeps going on about)

Again, we should look before we jump.

The thing that I buzz off over all this is that both the fans and the manager were in bed with Hicks and Gillett from the start, despite it being made clear that ticket prizes would rise and they would sell naming rights to the stadium.

They were happy to prostitute that for the promises of riches, the ends justifed the immoral means.

And now all this big outpouring of emotion and faux grief and anger despite it being blatant what they were about from the start: cold faced hard businessmen with no interest in the football side.

And now, its the superfan showdown where the various splinter groups are trying to out do each other to get their names in the paper.

I'm not sure whether its about the wellbeing of the club or their own insatiable egos.

Article 81a of the club’s constitution hands chairman Martin Broughton alone the right to appoint and remove directors of the club’s board - making the attempt from George Gillett and Tom Hicks to remove two directors, Ian Ayre and Christian Purslow, in an effort to block a sale to New England Sports Ventures, invalid.

Yet article 7a of KFHL’s constitution - last amended as a public record in Jan 08 - suggests that the board can only be appointed by Hicks and Gillett. If that constitution has not changed, then Hicks and Gillett would seem to have a case to stay at Anfield.

Reading that lads is like manner from heaven. There are two conflicting articles and huge grounds for legal appeal.

The thought that the Yanks will be just pushed out is a fallacy.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

It just doesn't make sense that Hicks and Gillette's advisors in the first place would have agreed to let their clients step into a turkey shoot. Regardless of any heat they were getting from RBS about a sale, no way would they have painted themselves into a corner like this. If the court does rule against them I'd expect the next court case to be a law suit filed by H&G against their own counsel.

"WE'RE GONNER WIN THE LEAGUE"

"IT WAS CHELSEA"

Etc.

With a £140 million loss on the cards if this does happen I expect this to go all the way to The European Court of Justice

I will dance down Priory Road if that shower of [Poor language removed] get a 9pts deduction.

Because that wipes out their Champions League chances for yet ANOTHER season. Hence more lost revenue.

And it will be just what that bunch of ********s (you know the one's I'm talking of) deserve.

Rescuing Liverpool is like trying to stop the Titanic from sinking...

Not bad for the Daily Fail!

Except on the Titanic the band kept the music playing... over there they publish videos saying "Jog On" "IT WAS CHELSEA" etc

Your going to be left disappointed if you think theres even a remote chance of Liverpool Football Club receiving a point deduction.

HAHA  Yeah. They'll go into administration then be gifted a European Place knowing them! (following marches and protests and claims of "it was Chelsea")

Hicks will win.

Club put in to administration.

RBS extend loan agreement avoiding points deduction.

Club sold anyways.

LFC come out of it smelling of roses.

Nailed.

There's been some commentary that Broughton will have to say this was done in the best interests of the majority shareholders, H&G....to cap their losses. How the **** can a judge accept that if Hicks and Gillette are stood in front of him arguing it's not in their interests?

I mentioned this before any many people shot me down. I agree. RBS will extend the loan.

Ha ha shall all of us with NAt West and RBS bank account email them threatening to close our accounts if this happens?
