There is NO WAY that they will get docked points. Even if they go into administration. Remember when they threw a tantrum just to get into the CL? It will never happen.

Anyhow, there's too much schadenfreude regarding LFC on these boards, in my opinion.
Fist use of that word on GOT. Well done sir.

Now that they have an owner there is more of a chance that the prem lets them sign players before the transfer window than they do getting of getting docked even 1 pt.

I agree with point 2, but there was this in the Guardian as well.

I didn't like this bit.

If Hicks succeeds, Liverpool are expected to be put into administration on Friday, then for RBS to sell the club to NESV for £200m. Yet that would be up for negotiation, and a nine-point penalty could severely affect the outcome.

Anyway, who cares, it will pan out in their favour like it always does.

Article 81a of the club’s constitution hands chairman Martin Broughton alone the right to appoint and remove directors of the club’s board - making the attempt from George Gillett and Tom Hicks to remove two directors, Ian Ayre and Christian Purslow, in an effort to block a sale to New England Sports Ventures, invalid.

Yet article 7a of KFHL’s constitution - last amended as a public record in Jan 08 - suggests that the board can only be appointed by Hicks and Gillett. If that constitution has not changed, then Hicks and Gillett would seem to have a case to stay at Anfield.

Reading that lads is like manner from heaven. There are two conflicting articles and huge grounds for legal appeal.

The thought that the Yanks will be just pushed out is a fallacy.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

Delicious. The very technicality that would avoid a 9 point penalty will in fact go in Hicks' favour at the High Court Hearing.

The deal with the devil is broken. Can't see them getting out of this one.

A couple of thoughts:

1) If I were a Red Sox fan, I wouldn't want my owner spending money elsewhere. Especially as my team has to compete with the big money Yankees and up and coming Rays each season. I'd want the owner's focus solely in Boston.

2) I would certainly make them aware of the flag burning antics of the so-called "supporters."

3) I believe that this is going to drag out awhile. If it does, it certainly won't help the [Poor language removed] on the pitch. But even if it somehow gets resolved in the best way possible, the quality that the [Poor language removed] have been putting out on the pitch isn't good enough to just magically propel them up the table. They lost at HOME to Blackpool and Northhampton. I mean come on !!!

I said it pre-season and I'll say it again. They'll finish no better than 9th or 10th this season.

But, in the meantime, I'll just sit back and watch Everton continue to improve their performances on the pitch.

i've been reading this thread and the other about their situation and various news articles all morning, i've been away on travel but once i saw the news of the deduction today my hangover vanished and the whole world seemed to brighten up.

October 15th is the magic day, you can bet i'll have a new years style countdown for it if theres still a possibility of this happening as the hour nears. I would love it if Gillett and Hicks filibustered in court just to get what they want.

I know that given their track record i shouldn't be optimistic, but this time i really can't help it. Just so i'm aware of every possible way they can wriggle out of this, could someone clear up?

a) Which players in the game are looking to avoid the 9 point deduction. Would administration be in Gillett and Hicks' best interest, or RBS, or these Red Sox guys? Is there any chance that difficult parties could call in their efforts at the last minute to protect against administration

b) Exactly what are the premier league rules regarding administration and point deductions now? I guess the southampton precedent doesn't apply, but is the FA allowed to exercise discretion to forgive their situation?
