In terms of this actual fella.

Can't say I've ever seen him play.

But I'm very wary of players doing well in Holland and then coming over here.

But I do love his name.

Do you mean like Van Nistlerooy, Suarez, Vertonghan, Vermaelen, Stekelenburg? you could even include, De Jong, Van Der Vaart, Bergkamp, Kluvert.

I'd rather we look elsewhere.

I know he only went to Twente in the summer but Luc Castaignos could be very very good. Pacey with good movement.

...looks a 'sniffer' but with more pace and zip than Jelavic. Good size, shape and movement didn't notice an awful lot on his left side but ok. Would like to know the source of recent rumour.

It's been in the metro and the mirror, which doesn't really add too much weight to the story. Looks like he can certainly finish.

I'm becoming impatient waiting for Martinez's first signing of a silky Spaniard or South American who costs £200k and runs midfield.

Castaignos has played in the Eredivisie for 4 years (Feyenoord), and has been at Twente since 2012.

With 36 goals in 94 games, why do you think he's a better option than our Fred?

I just think Fred looks like a player who can finish chances against poor keepers and defenders but little else a la Jelavic or Gary Hooper. We need someone who can offer more.

Hopefully i'm wrong if we get him

Castaignos looks a hell of a player though, style wise like a cross between a trezegeut and henry, obviously not anywhere near that level yet, but is promising

He's 3 years younger, so maybe he could develop into a better goalscorer than Alfred at a higher level.
