We're in the hunt for a 24-year old Hibs-supporting Eredivisie hotshot...from Iceland, the land of even less sun than Hibernian.



He's got an excellent goalscoring ratio for his club, the mid-table Heerenveen, according to my sauce, he's bagged 44 goals in 48 games! That's Ruud Boy Nistelroy levels just before Man Utd came knocking, who also played for Heerenveen before landing at PSV.

23 of the 24 goals were scored from inside of the box. He seems to be a natural finisher. Great first touch.

Just looked him up, 48 goals in 48 games for Heerenveenheenvenhen. Then 13 goals in 47 for Middlesborough.

Jela? 30 goals in 45 games for one of the überteams in a comparable league (Rangers), 27 in 71 for Rapid Vienna. Then comes to the Premiership for us and bags something similar to Alfonso: 19 in 66.

But Jela, as we all know, is on a dreadful decline. If this Alfred-with-the-mystic-d can do a consistent 1-in-3 job for us, then that wouldn't be too bad. Looking at his goals, he tends to score at the very last moment before a keeper can claim...a poacher. We thought Jela was the right poacher for us, but he really does seem finished.

We've got Martinez now, so hopefully no more Moyes-ruining-strikers-after-one-good-season scenario.

I'd say if 5m bags him, and Bobby likes how he plays, then let's go for it.
