ALEX YOUNG RIP

My Dads favourite player. Mine was Alan Ball (when I was growing up). My Dad used to say.... "but you should have seen Alex Young". Sadly I didn't (apart from footage).

Sad news.

Too often the words legend and great are used to describe players these days when actually they are generally just quite good, and some times not even that good! Alex Young, The Golden Vision was a true great of this great football club and should forever be known as one of the very best players to grace the shirt, quite rightly should always be known as part of a very elite group of players regarded as Everton legends! Sad sad day!
Couldn't have put it any better...so privileged to have seen him play for us....lobbing the west ham goalie from the right hand side of the area, 2 near post headers against sunderland just 2 memories..of many.....rip Alex

As a young lad of 11 I was in the Boys Pen watching my idols and Alex Young was one of those players that I adored. Granted I couldn't see much but I did have the benefit of watching one of our genuine idols play in the flesh. Alex, then Alan Ball and the rest of the team in the late sixties and seventies were massive influences on me as a youngster and I count myself lucky to have seen a part of EFC history in action and my thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.
