If i was part of a management team id be looking at what Patterson costs and what Patterson has cost from a secondary point of view.

If he was a live option there would arguably be no need for some of a Coleman, Extension, Ashley Young, Keane new contract because Jake might have to cover at full back.

That's before you look at needing a new right back we will inevitably bring in this window.
