Aiden McGeady

I like McGeady and he has great ball control and dribbling skills but my only gripe sort of is that it is not done at speed. He faces his opponent and can beat him but its done at slow pace. Would like to see him do it at pace which would obviously cause more problems. Saying that...he is still a very very good player and he beats his man more often than not.
Disagree. Think Deulofeu is the worst. He runs at incredible speed then slows down to see how many times he can beat a man, not only ruining the chance but making it easier to be tackled

I think he's decent but he looks like he's got his hands in his pockets all game, even when he's running.

Only negative i will say is that whilst he's whipping crosses in at a fair whack atm, we don't actually have anyone whose any good in the air in the team atm, so what's the actual point of lumping the ball in their for, same goes for how many corners we waste possession with.

Not so much a critic of McGeady but more of a general why have a player crossing so much when frankly it doesn't suit the players and around him doing that? If we had a cahill or fellaini then yeah would be a great tactic, atm though seems he does one thing well that is completely wasted and overall Mirrales and Delefeou are more effective than him due to this being watsed

If he hit the back of the net with one of his shots, we'd be singing his praises. He's very close to being our best winger, IMHO.

Really holds the ball up well, plays the 1-2 well, and can hit crosses with both feet. I thought we'd need an outside shot or two against Pulis' men, and he almost gave us that.

Plays far too often with his head down and is not a great team player. Happy to beat a full back and loop a cross in with no target. Reminds me of a few Scottish wingers in the sixties and seventies - now an an almost extinct species.

Not perchance John Connolly of blessed memory :)

That's fair comment. You're right there. Personnel wise it's a problem. That's why I said above it isn't a McGeady problem. In the meantime, while that's being resolved, I think maybe he should mix up his delivery and cut some back from the goal line toward the edge of the box/D for oncoming players in blue shirts. It's all landing in an area between penalty spot/six yard box/back post at the moment and that's food and drink to any GK and CBs.

McGeady and good crossing all in the same sentence, i need a lie down. This lad will only ever be a squad player in my opinion. Maybe Roberto can turn him into a 10 goal a season winger but i have my doubts after seeing him for Celtic and the Republic the last 10 years, he infuriates me. So much skill but awful end product and goals to game record.

I'm afraid too many haven't seen anywhere near enough of him (yet) to realise he's...umm..not very good.

He's a freebie for a reason. Having watched him for Ireland for years (shouldnt really be playing for us tbh) his trademark is running up blind alleys and putting in aimless crosses. Stewart Downing only with not quite as much pace. He's got the odd trick or two but lacks genuine quality to play for a decent side never mind a top one.

Squad player.

Load of tripe, we wouldn't of won the game at Fulham if it wasn't for his though ball to Mirallas, didn't see him running down blind alleys and putting aimless crosses in for that game did we?
