Irish fans in front of me hated Gibson, thought McCarthy was a downgrade on Fellaini and didn't want McGeady.
National team persuasions should have no bearing on club football...

Not so much a critic of McGeady but more of a general why have a player crossing so much when frankly it doesn't suit the players and around him doing that? If we had a cahill or fellaini then yeah would be a great tactic, atm though seems he does one thing well that is completely wasted and overall Mirrales and Delefeou are more effective than him due to this being watsed

Naismith is underrated in the air, he is small but good positionally and often outjumps guys taller than him.

Last night they only had about 10 mins on the pitch at the same time, would like to see the results of them both starting a game.

TBF, I think that's a rarity these days...the 'getting your head up' types. I cant say I've seen too many who do that. They just seem to ping it where they believe team mates might be. I like Albrighton at Villa because he doesn't do that - always gives one or two glances even when he's running with the ball. I'd like to have seen us enquire about him. Still not signed a new contract at Villa and he might be one who could offer us something if/when Deulofeu goes back.

Good shout i always liked Albrighton, Baffles me why Lambert seldom play's him.

Loads of energy, carries the ball well, can pick out a pass and get on the goalsheet occasionally.

Possible question mark over his fitness aside, you'd think he'd be snapped up in the summer if Villa dont offer him a new contract.
 
He'll come good, he's coming into a team that's in the best form they've shown for nearly 30 years on the back of not playing competitive football for months from an inferior league. He's not cost us anything (relatively speaking) I'll judge him next season.

Not Everton class and never a first team starter. His style is out of place in this current team in my opinion. Could be kept to use as a sub when desperate.

There was a time, a long time ago, when we used to look at players and say "he is not an Everton player" and we meant it.

But decades of watching boys like Ian Wilson, Ray Atteveld, Neil MacDonald, Danny Williamson, John Oster, Gareth Farrelly, John O'Kane, Klaus Thompson, Ibrahim Bakayoyo, Alex Nyarko and a hundred more of that ilk, including most famously of all The Blue feckin' Angell himself I am afraid that term is long since redundant.

And anyway....he has already contradicted you about his style being "out of place" in the current Everton as his cross led directly to the winner v Cardiff and his sublime pass let in Mirallas for the goal which turned the Fulham game back in our favour.

If Aiden Mac never kicks another ball for us he has justified the relative pittance we paid for him.
 
He started yesterday's match very brightly. Got past his man quite a few times in the first 10 mins, he also put in a semi driven cut back/cross to Lukaku which he ballsed up (literally).

He was also the player that, from deep, kept the ball well and played quick and accurate passes that allowed us to break a few times. His shots from distance showed that he had the right idea too, thought he was unlucky there.

I read a stat which said he got past his man 5/11 times yesterday, yeah he should have kept it simple a few times but at least he was trying to create. And that spin. ooft.

Theres still more to come from Geads, and I think he has been promising so far. So lets not get on his back after a couple of starts and a few short cameo appearances, eh lids?

That's fair comment. You're right there. Personnel wise it's a problem. That's why I said above it isn't a McGeady problem. In the meantime, while that's being resolved, I think maybe he should mix up his delivery and cut some back from the goal line toward the edge of the box/D for oncoming players in blue shirts. It's all landing in an area between penalty spot/six yard box/back post at the moment and that's food and drink to any GK and CBs.

Aye Dave, atm what he is doing well isn't being complimented by those around him, atm we do play very like arsenal around the bergkamp/henry era especially (not as good obv atm), and I remember how little they actually crossed the ball due to basically having no one decent in the air, we're very similar - wouldn't be shocked if we were at the bottom of the league or thereabouts on headed goals for example. For sure we don't have any player who actually attacks the ball, even Naismith doesn't beat people to get his headers off ala Cahill like

Solution is either bringing someone on who actually benefits from a guy putting the ball in as he does, or simply getting him to cross less pull more cutbacks etc much the way kev and gerry do atm (not that they do it half as often as they should be like) - but i also think that players a lot of the time coming in the box aren't sharp for those balls either, just think its growing pains under a new system and will be a lot more fluent next season myself
