Very interesting. I always have in my mind that 25 points at Xmas is really good going. If the second half of this season is similar to recent years it could be one to remember.

7 points from the next three games and fourth place is well and truly ON.

think 9 is totally not out of the question and i wouldn't be shocked at all if we did it. would probs settle for 7, then again, i thought wins over norwich and reading where a given. it's going to be so tight at the end of the season though, lets hope that spurs win will end our little blip and make us kick start into the new year

How boss a start did we have the 07-08 season, what the **** happened the second half?!
We continued it really well too. I remember after beaing Wigan 2-1 away in like April we were actually in 4th place. We just handed the ********s a 12 point swing. Well, we handed them a 6 pt swing with a meek display at Anfield... Clattenburg did the rest at Goodison. Also robbed in a 0-0 draw at Blackurn which should've been 0-1, wrongly disallowed goal (where have we heard that before? I wonder if it will cost us again?) - plus the slight derailing that occured post-Fiorentina. Heartbreaking would be the word.

Got more points that season than any other season under Moyes as well as decent runs in the league cup and europe. Just couldn't keep it up at the death.

The derby at anfield was when we lost 4th place. That was the most vital league game we've played since man U at home in 04-05.

Just found I was way off about the dates.

It was January when we beat Wigan. Still, being in 4th in January is impressive. Definitely the Fiorentina game derailed us, as did that poor, poor Derby showing.

I can't see us still being in 4th by 20th January, as we were then. It's possible but we need to go on a really good run... remember that season, around about Christmas time, we were at our absolute strongest. Yobo and Jagielka were rocks at the back, as was Lescott keeping out Baines at leftback, and we went to West Ham twice in four days and gave them two footballing lessons. That cup win was fantastic.

It was a great season and then the year after we had that boss cup run to the final and the late charge up the table to steal 5th off Villa. If you'd told me then that we wouldn't finish top 6 or play a cup final for the next three years, I wouldn't have believed you.

But Arteta was never the same after his injury, Lescott got his head turned, the Yak fell out with management, age caught up with Cahill and that team never achieved what we all thought it could. It's a credit to Moyes that we look half that good now to be honest, I thought last year that we'd never get back to that level again.

Exactly my feelings. The years 2007-2009 were brilliant. Everything after has been a steady decline. I almost lost it with the Arteta sale, I felt so, so low about our future. We did brilliantly to turn things round but I am not sure if we can hit those heights again.
