There you are👍

I like plenty of what you post in CA but this thread just looks like you are using this tragedy to score points, and unlike a fair bit of what you post your underlying point is extremely weak on top of that. Start an actual thread about what you are getting at and as Chico would say …SAY IT.

The inference of your point in a few of your posts here rather than just saying what you mean, for me just doubles down on what seems a crass reason to open this thread

(Disclaimer, this is how it reads to me, I am not claiming to know your thinking)

Oh no mate, he really does care for the people of Sudan. His compassion isn't at all disingenuous.

I expect it'll be busy in here now once people understand what is happening.
Doubt it, they’re unfashionable conflicts.

Unless it’s Russia, or Israel doing the oppressing then the internet doesn’t want to know.

Over 150,000 dead in the Yemen civil war directly from the conflict, and a further 220,000 starved or died from lack of aid, yet the last Yemen thread on here never even got to a page long.

Anyone who follows world current affairs would have known it was going on, but there was nothing worthwhile in it for either side of the media political spectrum to really run with it in the west….Unless it’s white/Jewish people being killed, or white/Jewish people doing the killing then it’s low value media marketability.

Well you also have the fact that the Saudis, like Israel have our politicians and media in their pockets which is why Yemen is ignored in public discourse

If you believe that I started this thread as a trap, and that I am a Nostradamus like visionary, well, I am sorry to give you bad news. I started the thread due to genuine concerns about destabilisation in Africa and also the role of certain state actors in this.

This Islamist atrocity in Sudan has just happened so the shock should be a fresh concern for any who position themselves as ethically minded.

It is fair to say that some moral reasoning is much more directed at defending one’s prior, subjective views and bias. I am not suggesting that I am immune but what is clear is that fairness and reciprocity are fundamental building blocks of morality. This should clearly be based upon universal norms of humanitarian culture. So when I say a Sudanese women or child killed is equally as repulsive as a Palestinian or Ukrainian women or child, it is reasonable to expect a truly moral mind to understand this. A biased mind might struggle and if, for example, people are wanting to discuss solutions between two or more parties or issues then any bias would be an issue and barrier. If a person is espousing the virtues of morality, and actively decrying one atrocity, if they are truly moral they will do so equally for all. I think this is fair to say. If not, then maybe it is not a moral issue that they have issue with. Maybe it is not the murder of women and children, for example. That is what I am saying.
