The USA should be ashamed of its deplorable decision to cut and run. Biden is an idiot. Tens of thousands will now die and a new terrorist haven will be established …

Taliban would have taken over the country even if USA/UK stayed for another decade. The whole war was a complete farce.

I agree. But do you not think the UK has just done the same. Even if we're not a strong enough power to go it on our own, we should have stayed to help the Afghan regime we helped put in power to finish the job they started. At the same time we should have been putting pressure on the UN to replace some of the vacuum left by USA pulling out.

The USA were wrong, but so were we.

Whether we should have gone in in the first place is a completely different conversation, and a hell of a complicated one too. But once we went in the last thing we should have done is pull out with the job half finished.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the wars against the Taliban and ISIS, the one thing that can't be denied is that the number and frequency of terrorist acts around the western world have diminished dramatically, as the would be jihadists flock to defend their countries. Terrorism within those countries however have continued abound, even though they probably don't get the media coverage they deserve in the west. There's no doubt if the Taliban get control of Afghanistan it will once more become the breeding ground for the export of terrorism around the world. Together with Climate Change that is probably the biggest threat to our way of life and the freedoms we currently enjoy. Think on that for a moment.

I think someone uk-side tried to form a coalition once the US were known to be pulling out.

Fair enough. I didn't know that. It really should be a job for the UN don't you think. Surely that's what it is there for.

Mind you, you could understand them saying you got yourselves in this mess and now you're trying to pass it on to us.
