I like how this kid an Vlasic have become superstars while not playing just because the rest have been utter dirge. I do agree both should be given more of a look in but, people have gone way over board on their talents. I'd have him instead of Bolasie everytime but let's not kid ourselves that he isn't inconsistent. Next season hopefully they'll get chances.
Absolutely nobody has suggested that either of them are the finished article. People have simply been saying what you have said in the parts in bold.

Lookman's now been an unused sub in 3 of his last 4 games. The same pattern was seen when he first came to EFC. Given a chance to impress but didn't do well enough so got dropped.
If this continues it'll be 4 managers in a row who'll have deemed him not yet good enough. He's clearly got talent and showed self belief to go to Germany but it may be self delusion as he would have been better served dropping to the Championship for game time.
a club like Bristol City that plays good football would suit him

It's because at least they have the potential to be better than the utter dirge that is playing. Youth can get better. Someone coming back from a massive injury or a 28 year old generally don't get better; they are what they are.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. He did little to show he was worth a regular place, but neither has Holgate, Davies or any of the other galoots we play regularly. Of course if we had the time again I would keep Ademola and bin off Davies or one of the other maybe players on loan somewhere.

It's not hindsight though; the confusion at sending him on loan at the time was pretty much universal. There was no sign whatsoever that Lennon and Bolasie were better options than him and, indeed, that has been borne out.

It was a shocking decision at the time and still a shocking decision looking back.

He helped create a goal in the derby then was benched again, he showed more than enough to get more time.
