Absolutely bonkers how recently he was playing with mates in parks. And now he's going on the bench for a good Prem team. How the hell does that even happen?

To put it into context, when he was a kid at school knocking footballs around in the park (and he went to school about 10 minutes walk from me, so probably the park outside my house!), he was going home and watching MoTD highlights of Ross and Rom being exciting young talents in the season where we came 5th. Now his shirt will be hanging up next to theirs in the dressing room. WTF.

what about that non league player arsenal signed ... inspirational

Yes.

Him and Deulofeu have possibly had too much too soon.

Martinez liked to see his players show arrogance. I view that as one of the worst traits possible, especially in a team game.

Our "arrogance" was the reason we strolled around at walking pace expecting teams to just stand off and be in awe of us. He made those players believe they were good enough to beat anyone without even trying. That is absolutely the worst trait possible, especially when you're Everton and not Barcelona or Bayern.

Hi lads,

I have always read your views and opinions on this site for the last how many years and just wanted to say, this is a great forum so please keep it going.

I thought I would give you an update on lookman.

I'm from Kent originally and played for Gillingham and a lot of my mates were playing at charlton, our country team was great and I got to play with the likes of George Boyd and the Newcastle keeper Rob Elliot. Finally I moved away from Kent to Liverpool so I could watch Everton as often as possible.

I still have some good ties at charlton and thought I would give you an update from a coach I know regarding lookman.

"
He has great pace, is very skilful and can be very direct and is always scoring spectacular goals in games and at training.

I've seen some awesome kid come out our academy such as Scott Parker, shelvey, Gomez etc but this kid is the best of the lot.

I hope Everton give him time because In my opinion he could be unbelievable and the money that has been mentioned that you guys paid for him is close, but even if it was doubled it would be worth it, that's how highly I rate him"

This guy's knowledge of football is great so I'm hoping he is correct.

Love reading posts like this. Cheers for the info mate ;)

*not a criticism, just an observation*

It always makes me a bit uncomfortable when I hear a young person giving the religion/god thing loads in interviews. Seamie used to spend half his interviews doing the same but seems to do it much less now.

Another example (as an irish person) is Katie Taylor... it was pretty much all she said in interviews until recently (now she never even mentions it).

The seems to be quite a lot of sports people that are either very religious or feel they really need to deflect praise away from the hard work they may have done to get where they are.

Absolutely no offense is intended from the above post, just curious if this is something that sticks out for anyone else or if I'm just an oddball who notices it due to being born and raised in the west of Ireland (historically a very religious place).
