Can’t believe this fella got a massive cheer on to the pitch while players like Davies and Coleman who give 100% every week get slagged off after a couple of poor performances.

I don't think Davies has been good for a while really, he's no better than Besic. I don't know whose slagging Coleman, because he's pretty much the 1 player you can't slag off. We haven't really seen enough of Lookman to really say he's great or awful. I think really need more of a physical presence in midfield and up front too often our players seem to get bullied by opposition players.

Just to be clear, Coleman and Davies also got massive cheers. There’s a difference between saying a players performance isn’t good enough - which neither of there’s were - and booing them onto the pitch.

Lookman (like Holgate) has had no preseason. His head is probably all over the place and he wont have any idea of what the manager wants as he hasn't been coached (physically) whilst being injured...

Like all younger players he needs to be given time and its unfair to judge players u21 on the strength of less than a handful of consistent appearances.

Lookman now has an opportunity to impress and I hope he takes it. If we can get him firing on all cylinders then we will pose a great attacking threat once Richarlison is back and Bernard is fit. Our defence and the zonal marking still scares me though.

DCL, while still nowhere near the finished article, is showing signs of improvement and I think he could become our main striker next season.

If all our players progress as I think they will then, next season, we could be one hell of a team.

We need to look for a lot better than Calvert Lewin , tries his heart out but is nowhere near the calibre of player we need.

Strange, I thought he did OK. Set up what was nearly the winning goal and tracked back to defend when needed. There is much more to come from him when he gets more minutes on the pitch.

It must be said that he seemed a bit reluctant to listen to Silva's instructions on the touchline as he was coming on. Needs to sort his head out asap.

Was very active and had some good moments but gave the ball away a million times, mostly from trying to do too much.

Didn’t look at the races today, but still provided the best chance of the second half with a drop of a shoulder to beat his marker and then played in a great ball that just eluded Siguardsson and DCL. He now needs to knuckle down in training and get his head right, to provide more moments like this on a consistent basis.

I did choke reading that! I must be watching a different Calvert Lewin than the one he's watching.

Agree, should have let Lookman go and tried for Lozano or someone of his ilk. He made it clear he wanted to go.

Davies was poor all of last year and he has not shown anything so far this year to warrant being cheered.

DCL played on the left, Lookman didn't = both were out of position.

DCL has 3 goals this season already, I think he will hit 12+ if playing as a centre forward.

He should net again against West Ham. Lookman will tear them apart.

Where was he meant to be playing when he came on? He was constantly in the centre and it was just so crowded there. He offered no width for Coleman at all. Can only think that was an instruction by Silva, because surely he wouldn’t just do that intentionally?

I did say, next season. Yes, he did miss another couple of decent chances today but he also scored (3 in 2 now) and is much improved on last season and Silva and Brands clearly see something or he would not have started and would likely have been sold.

I will trust Silva and Brands and hope that DCL causes a lot of humble pie to be swallowed by his detractors.

Lookman? Well, the ball is in his court now. He either knuckles down and produces or gets sent to the U23 team.
