Put him in against the Kopites and twist the knife. "Here's your academy player. Thanks".

:P

Just when we thought Rafael couldnt get any better, history bodes well Dave Watson, Kevin Sheedy.

Hopefully the lad cuts mustard, if nothing else he will prob take Goslings role in the squad.

An out and out winger? It can't be true. Not after we played 4-4-2 against Spurs as well. Changes all over the shop in Moylez's ethos this week.

I'd settle for that - good squad player who knocked *them* out of the cup. If Hammill does the same, job done.

Just had a bit of a search on him, apparently he was massively rated at Anfeild and their lot where bewildered that he was allowed leave, 8 goals and four assits for Barnsley this year. Good complement of young winger with him and Gueye and Seamus if true.

At 22 he should really be begining to kick on!

It's not on his Wiki profile yet. Which probably just means Matt Damon hasn't heard the rumours and edited it yet.

Is it possible that Moyes has the drive to rebuild the squad with these young signings we're linked strongly to today? I have my doubts, personally. There's going to be a big clearout soon and kids like this wont bridge the gap of senior professionals leaving or getting another season older. It's probably just the fact that these kids are dirt cheap and needs must.

I dont know enough about the lad to be honest havnt really seen him play, i think its fair to say there are a lot of player in our first team on big money who havnt really impacted this year, Saha, Hetinga, Yak and a few others. I guess we would have struggled to make sense of Seamus having such an impact on our right flank this time a year ago. The thing with a clear out is that it frees up wages to add to the squad with players who could make more of an impact - the skill is selecting the right players on the big money to go and replaceing them. Some of the stars of this season for me we would have turned our noses up at this time last year playing in obscure leagues, Carrol, Adam, Holden, Brunt, Phillips etc. So i would be keen to give a few young hungry players a chance.

Its canny enough swelling the ranks with potential even if only one or two make the grade, Gueye, Garbutt, Mustafi, Barkley, Duffy, Bidwell, Hope all have a decent shout of making the first team for me, with our financial situation it just makes sense and we probably cant do it any other way currently. In the case of Hammill he has 500k buy out clause in his contract:

BARNSLEY director Don Rowing has admitted he would be sad to see star winger Adam Hammill leave the club.

The former Liverpool playmaker has been a shining light for the Reds this season and contributed eight welcome goals to the cause.

But Reds boss Mark Robins revealed after Monday's home win against Coventry City that "it's out of my hands" whether the club could hold on to one of their most prized assets.

And Rowing confirmed that Hammill, 22, does have a £500,000 buyout clause in his contract which he agreed when he penned a three-year deal in August 2009.

"We've had enquiries about Adam, but there's nothing concrete at the moment," Rowing told The Star.

"The transfer window is open until January 31, so we'll have to see what happens before then.

"The decision (whether to stay or leave] is solely in the player's hands. The ball is in Adam's court.

"Of course we'd love him to stay because he's one of our best players and he's contributed a lot towards what we've achieved this season.

"We're in a decent position in the league, higher than we've been at this stage in the season for some time, but it's now down to Adam."

Wolves boss and ex-Red Mick McCarthy was at Oakwell on Monday to see the Reds beat the Sky Blues.

But more worryingly for Reds fans, McCarthy was believed to be casting his eye over Hammill having been a big admirer of the player.

And with rumoured interest from the likes of West Ham, Bolton, Blackpool, Notts Forest Leeds United, it could now just be a matter of time before Hammill decides to switch.

If Hammill did leave then he would most likely join a Premier League having expressed a desire to play in the Premier League one day.

However, Rowing is hopeful the winger will stay, but realistic that if the player does leave then the club will no doubt move forward like they have done in the past.

"That's the nature of football these days, it's very rare for players to stay at a club for more than two or three years," added Rowing. "The loyalty these days is not what it used to be say in the 1950s or 1960s.

"There are agents involved now and there is a lot more money on offer to player.

"In Adam's case you can't stand in the way of a young and exciting player who wants to play in the Premier League, so if he does move we'd have to sit back, think and contemplate how to move the club forward.

"But hopefully Adam does decide to stay because he's been a very important player for us this season and developed and improve a lot under Mark Robins."
