2025/26 Adam Aznou

I don't know why anyone is surprised. He did the exact same thing to Coleman at first. He played him exclusively as a sub winger as he felt he was a liability defensively, then shunted him off to Blackpool in the championship where he smashed it at right back and forced him to bring him back and play him in his preferred position. Moyes likes his players well seasoned, as well all know, and he particularly loathes youth in defence, for obvious reasons.
You are painting this as a bad thing - the spell at Blackpool was the best thing for him.

Most fans to Moyes after seeing Aznou isn't actually worse than Mykolenko in any way at all, and is in all likelihood better.

Tbf I'm not sure he is currently better than Myko, however Moyes has had plenty of opportunities to stick him on the wing to get him more match sharp and used to the Premiership pace whilst we benefit from his pace and attacking abilities. No excuses for that like.

It's highlighted Moyes tactical inflexibility. He has a plan A then little to nothing else. Aznou has a bit of pace and appears confident to take players on, surely someone to bring on late in most games and to start when Grealish hasn't been available.

Yep, and imo, one of the major flaws with Moyes is that he always seems to put a lot of his effort into his own PR rather than admitting a mistake/weakness and never learns/improves as a consequence. Probably doesn't sit well with some members of the squad either.
Grealish was having a shocker before he was sent off, Aznou could have made a difference if he had replaced him.

He should do/have done what he did with Coleman , get him use to the prem by giving him games/minutes at left wing, which after Sats cameo proves that

Yeah mate, a few of us have been saying that on here for a while and it's always met by 'what about that U21 game?!'. Sometimes we're so devoid of an ability to break down an opposition's last third that it's almost stupid not to throw on some pace on the wing and get Aznou some experience.

The simple calculation to be made is this:

do we benefit more on the left by having Aznou there with his attacking game or do we benefit more by having Mykolenko (theoretically) offering more stability by staying in his own half.

Most people will probably go with the former option and can see the knock on benefit to Grealish.

A positive manager goes for that option too. We have a negative manager with an ingrained bias against young players.

So Aznou wont be used much more this season...and, Moyes being Moyes, he will have heard about all this chatter among fans and want to reinforce the point that he makes the decisions....becausse that's what he does.

For the umpteenth time: Moyes makes decisions to suit Moyes, not Everton. Sometimes those two outcomes coincide, sometimes they clash - this is one of the one's that clash.

I feel sorry for the lad. If I was him I'd be off like a 'kin shot.

Think it would help if Branthwaite was back to cover for him defensively. Keane at left centre half? No chance.

Yea but we don’t actually know that because he’s not played
