This feels a little silly. Grealish is clearly the best footballer in our squad, but he is a creative focal point and needs runners around him. Without that he is going to focus on maintaining possession. To the point, Aznou should be starting every game at LB when available.

I wouldn’t go with Aznou on LW always, but try it as a 60’ sub experiment for Jack. It’s an instant change to the match.

Jack is great but he isn’t without flaws. It is irritating to know he’ll drive up to the left corner near the touch line, stop, draw three defenders, and either get the foul or maybe pass/cross. It’s what he does. You can patent it it’s that predictable.

Aznou is fast and aggressive. I saw him handling the ball on the wing and then moving into the box to receive.

Again, I like Grealish a ton. But he’s a rally killer almost every time. Same with Dibling. A very basic concept in any sport is that the moment you draw a double team, you can try to split them but always look up. It means at least one person is open. Jack and Tyler are almost always triple teamed. So look up and find the two wide open players.

Not saying we shouldn’t start Grealish which we absolutely should, I don’t see why not try Aznou at LB - it’s not like we’re keeping loads of clean sheets lately anyway

I just can’t wait until Branthwaite’s back. When he is we have to go O’Brien and Branthwaite at CB. That way we’d have the pace there to use Aznou and (hopefully) a new RB

I thought Patterson did pretty well today. He did what we’ve been asking for. He was quick, played heads up, overlapped, made great crosses. Swap Aznou for Mykolenko and it adds creativity on both sides.

He gets in good positions, but his end product is unreliable to the point it negates any value he provides to the squad.

He has pace and took the game by the scruff of the neck.

Defensively might not be the best but left wing or a wingback for now.

Aznou would be great overlapping on the wing down side is Grealish slows it down so much and if he doesn’t pass to Aznou and loses the ball our defence suffers. We could see a Baines Pienaar style in the left with those two just be nice for Grealish as long as he doesn’t do that slow the game down thing and chance has vanished
