2025/26 Adam Aznou

I did, that’s why I’m saying it’s childish.

ā€œDon’t play me? Oo I’ll show you, no pics of me in an Everton training top anymoreā€
I agree with you, I have no idea why footballers feel the need to go on social media in the first place but if they have grievances they should keep it in house. Saying that he's only 19 so being childish is more understandable

Footballers probably go on social media for the same reason everyone else does.

And as for keeping things "in house" the manager hasn't. He's publicly said the players who aren't playing aren't good enough, despite fielding a first 11 that has been abject at parts of the season.

At LB this season, we've played Garner, Branthwaite, Coleman, when Mykolenko has been unfit rather than the actual LB we signed in the summer.

Moyes clearly doesn't like him, maybe that's because he's immature, but so is the manager who has been petulant when challenged by the media about his performance this season.

I do find players who mess about with their social media when in a huff to try send a message are not the sort of characters I want here anyway. Proper childish behaviour.
Of course it's childish but he is literally a teenager. Been messed around by Moyes and the club, it's not how I would choose to express my frustrations but for someone around that age stuff like this doesn't seem as stupid.

It’s still unprofessional and childish IMO. No problem with players being annoyed, I’ve just never liked when people do that. It’s petulant. Reminds me of the old MSN days when you’d take someone’s name out of your bio thing so people would notice.
As @Jebus_lives points out so have some of the manager’s comments about him too and he is well past being a teenager.

I have no real idea of Adam’s character but I wouldn’t make a decision on whether I wanted him out the club or not based on such a minor thing. In any case that ship has probably sailed, I think his agent will be instructed to move heaven and earth to find an exit.

The bold doesn't make it any better.

It is a running theme of his career of making bad rash career decisions. He should be deeply considering sacking his agent who is doing nothing but giving him diminishing returns on his moves.

Actually I do think it makes it more understandable.

If your manager is not only not playing you but also dissing you in public the desire to make your feeling clear in public will be increased, it is human nature. It is the sort of thing Mourinho used to infuriate players to do.

Behaving like a child just because your boss is behaving like a child is quintessential immaturity.

He is also, as you rightly pointed out, a teenager, so there has to be a level of mitigation regarding his reaction. Acceptable? No. Understandable? Yes.

To bring a player in and give them literally zero league time and only a small cameo in 3rd round of the cup, where he impressed, is bizarre by the club.

I purposefully kept an eye on him at the open training session, and again there was nothing to suggest he's way from the standard. In fact, he impressed.

I say this in all seriousness rather than jest, but I do wonder if he's too positive/attacking for Moyes. We know how defensive minded he likes his full backs.
