It just frustrates me that you are trying to paint the way things happened as if it was a like for like sub.
It was a clear change. Folks talk about his stubbornness and inability to be flexible. When he actually does try something different he's still slated for it.
You'd prefer him over Del then?

I'd prefer rewarding players after good games and punishing them after bad ones. Especially if you look at the phenomenal competition for places in this team.

Back on topic. I hope we get to see more Lennon subbing for Deulofeu from now on.
The guys deserves better than a stubborn, deluded Manager picking his underperforming favourites when we have better quality on the bench wasting their careers away.
You clearly can't see the forest for the trees that he tried changed the system to help his prize striker who was struggling to get in the game.
FYI...Lennon was a perfect for a game like yesterday...and was exactly what he was purchased for. A squad player that can start the odd game and perform well in order to give starters a rest.

I am not talking about one player or another (either if it's del, len, kon, mir) but in general.
In this team there is one, maybe two players in that kind of form that deserves to play every game. Del very often is either substituted or starts on the bench though.
I'd prefer lennon over kone and mirallas any day.
OK but isn't Mirallas injured ATM? Kone being brought on was a change in system that Lennon isn't capable of doing.
Currently he's the only player we can bring on to play two up top...a change he tried. Would Lennon have been and improvement to Del on the wing to help bring Rom in the game? No...he is not as good as Del at that. Rom needed help and Kone was brought on to try something different.

Nobody knew how Gerry was going to settle in. And i still don't think that Gerry should start in every game possible, he's still prone to sulking if things aren't going his way, in some cases Lennon is the better option, just like Kev is better option than Kone in a lot of games, but we all know who Roberto is going to choose most of the time.
Lennon offers something different to Del and Martinez could've use him more often if wasn't so stubborn. And we could've benefited from it too. Or not. Who knows really.

I am not buying any ideas that comes from martinez. He needs to start eating food on the matchday
I won't discount the initial reason for the buy was his influence on our performances last season.
That said, it's become obvious that Del is one of our most important players as the creator from the right this season.
Lennon is then meant to be a squad player who can perform when called upon. Either with a start here and there or from the bench. A squad player that can make an impact.
Del is clearly the better option on most days...a difference maker going forward.
Ultimately this argument was about subbing Lennon vs Kone...and it being painted as a like for like sub.
It wasn't. The stubborn/inflexible manager tried to change the system with 2 up top. Some don't actually watch football...they just fume.
