i remember big dunc rising about 3 feet above the arsenal defence to get on the end of a corner and i think they were all tall buggers at the time, and i couldn't figure out why we didnt do it every time as they couldn't get anywhere near him, but it doesn't matter how good the guys in the box are if the delivery is rank.

Having height in the box gives you presence which more than not puts pressure on the opposition whether its a good delivery or not. When the likes of Carsley, Pienaar, Johnson and Osman are in there they just get restrained by stronger more physical opponents.

I remember watching the Derby at Anfield this season and seeing Pienaar being bullied by Babel inside the box. He just give him a little shove and he was out of the equation. Big players do make a difference whether deleivery is half decent or excellent.

Even when the likes of Fernandes or Arteta have put a decent delivery in this season there has been nothing in there whatsoever bar Lescott.

We are a funny bunch, we moan for years for less big men ala route one, then moan when theres no-one in the box to head it home!

Not so sure about the height thing woudl fancy my chances knoking peter crouch of the ball, just someone with a physical presence would do the trick i would be thinking in the engine room.

In the box getting on the end of things is another glaringly obvious way we miss Cahill.

Well Bradley is 6'1" and is pretty good at knocking in corners.

We really miss Cahill on corners. Despite the fact that he's not very tall he always seemed to get a touch on the ball. In my opinion the only player better at getting a hold of corners in the prem is Ballack.

Crouch is lousy at corners. He's decent at knocking balls down playing route one football but that's about all his head is useful for. He's incredibly talented with his feet though and may be a world class player if he was 7 inches shorter.

I think it was Bechkham who always did the 'hands up' and I presumed it was for number 11 Giggs to get on the end of.

I hate the phrase hes got a "great touch for a big man" as far as i can tell everyone who is a big man has a great touch!b)

I always thought the hands up motion meant "heads up".

Just seems too obvious, like it may have been going somewhere else. Your probably right though.

*side note: took an absolutley cracking corner last night. One of those one that just drills in, spinning right into the goal. Best corner Ive ever taken I reckon.

Kuyt. His workrate would suit us perfectly. I hate to admit it, and I have said it before(I think Monty agreed with me).

/ducks the water bottles
