3 Things which we have learnt in 2012 ?

Not a knock on Anichebe but Vellios does need to start with Jelavic. I like Anichebe coming off the bench he seems a little more hungry when he has time to analize the game from the bench. We probably won't see that now with Fellani slotting back in the team.
Distin has looked very good this year. Heitinger has been ball watching to much and has falling out of favour.

I don't know why I like football
Everton are boss and yet tosh at the same time
I hate every other team in the league

Moyes won't change his ways and will never put trust in youngsters. Square pegs for round holes.
Baines and Fellaini are our most important players
We're bottlers.

C'mon mate - sensible thread. Reign it in.

not really a sensible thread if you really look at it. He's said 2012 as a whole, yet really only looked at the past 3 months or so.

1. Heitinga proved turn of the year until may that he was unreal at centre back, winning player of the year in the process. So over the whole of 2012 he's had half good half not so good.

2. Naismith Neville and Hitzleberger in midfield are hardly bad, put in there Anichebe as well and it's not a bad squad at all.

3. Jelavic hasn't ever been playing poorly, take today for example, he was absolute class with vic alongside him or on the left, just mightily unlucky.

And as for not many goalscoreres, Jalavic, Fellaini, Mirallas, Naismith, Osman, Pienaar all come in with a fair few not to mention Baines' contribution.

I feel that this thread is a knee jerk reaction off the back of one not so great result in a game we dominated. If you really want three things that we've learnt from the past few months, which this thread is really aimed at as opposed to the whole year, i'd say that; 1. we can't hold out a lead, 2. we need to learn that keeping clean sheets is just as important as playing expansive attacking football, and 3. that if we carry on the way we have been we're more than capable of finishing top 4.

1. We are actually capable of good attacking football. (God knows we didn't show this in 2011.)
2. Moyes is second to none at picking a player if you actually give me money to do so. (God knows we had no reason to know this in 2011.)
3. Pienaar isn't actually an overrated women beating god bothering bench warming judas but an excellent footballer who I adore. (Big shock this one.)

Alternate picks: 1. We will never win either a trophy or a non goodison derby under Moyes. (Learned that one at Wembley.)
2. Refereeing is so hard that no human ref in the leageu can actually do it and the prem should employ dolphins instead.
3. Howard is past it but Fellaini is excellent when played as a striker.

1 -- Defensively, Our keeper and most expensive centre back are not good enough. Yet Baines and Jagielka are top class, Distin has put in a few top performances despite his age and Coleman looks to be a player.

2 -- Our first choice midfield (Pienaar, Fellaini, Gibson, Osman, Mirallas) look class......the others have great effort but not enough quality, possibly with the exception of Oviedo.

3 -- Jelavic only plays well with Velios or alone.

Final thought, lots of heart in the team but not many goalscorers and a handful of players needing to be shipped out to bring in some more quality.

What 3 things did you learn this 2012 ?

never to write off

1. A player from utd's "cast offs"
2. A player from the SPL

1. We have the ability and the class in the current squad to dominate games away to Citteh and definitely at home against all of the 'Sky 4'. No need to play down our ability with any more knife to gunfight ever again.
Even with 4 starting 11 players and 2 of our mainstays we dominate Chelsea.

2. We produce chances in copious amounts, we need to finish them off. We're still waiting for the team that will suffer the consequences, so far it's only been us.

3. Our defense needs some serious looking over. Regardless if they're lacking cover from Gibson not playing as many, several players being troubled by injuries or the team being unlucky with refereeing calls the lack in clean sheets is worrying.

1. we need a CB and either CDM/CAM depending where Felli will be played

2. Jelavic needs to start firing

3. Gibson and Mirallas need to stay fit

and as an extra its so ****ing frustrating that we are always skint when in reality we have a top manager and would certainly be top 4 had we been able to spend the money the ********s and the likes of spurs, newcastle, stoke and sunderland have :(

1. Take it one game at a time. Don't think about big European nights until they are the next fixture, if it happens great, but don't get carried away and look too far down the line.

2. Don't take football so seriously.

3. We're great aren't we. The club has performed so well in 2012 both on and off the pitch. Goodson was in fine fettle today and that's how I'll remember our year, fantastic. Well done lids.
