Do you think we're ever going to see it employed? Martinez seems pretty set on a 4-2-3-1 for this season, but as the team evolves (and Martinez gets to bring in his own personnel), is that the direction we're headed? Arguably, we sometimes even look like it now, when Barry's hanging back with the CBs and our wing backs are moving forward...

Howard
Stones Jagielka Distin
Coleman McCarthy Barry Baines
Barkley
Mirallas Lukaku

Simples.

That's 3-5-2 mate (soz for being pedantic)

3-4-3 / 5-2-3 would be:
--------------Howard-------------
-------Stones Jagielka Distin-------
--Coleman McCarthy Barry Baines--
Mirallas-------------------Deulofeu
---------------Lukaku-------------

Depends, dunnit.

Cos 3-4-3 could be more like 5-2-2-1, or 3-3-2-2, or 3-5-2, depends on how it's played get me bruv.

Just play the cock formation. Howard can be the little bit of pube delicately shaved into a circle above the shaft, distin and jags are the balls, then play 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 above them. Shake from side to side throughout the game to bum teams into submission.

Only if Martinez ever manages to summon the mythical creature Alcaraz from its slumber.

We were just completely overrun in the midfield with three there, I doubt removing a midfielder is really going to do what many think it will.

And with Barkley, our wing play should be less and less, not more like it would be with wingbacks.

Reading some articles on his style and systems, he says that formations in his teams fluctuate throughout the game, so it's probably only a matter of time before we see this and other formations.
