TX Bill

Player Valuation: £80m
For you poker players.

I'm playing in a $150 FTP tournament tonight. 75k guarantee. Top 54 get paid. 576 playing.

I'm doing well and at one point, have the lead until I go card dead.

At any rate, the avg chip stack is 20,000 and I've got about 13,000 left (a few good hole cards but didn't hit flop or was outgunned)

I'm the small blind at 600. KQ in the hole. Everyone folds around and I raise to 1800. BB raises to 4000. I think about it for a sec and figure ok, why not? I need to make a move here at some point and for all I know, he could have been trying to steal the blinds and antes.

TX Bill calls.

Flop is Ks 10c 7c Freaking BEAUTIFUL !!!

I immediately go all in.

The guy decides he wants to think about for awhile and hits the time button. He spends an additional 30 seconds before deciding what to do. I'm figuring he's on a club draw, say AQc or something like that. He obvously doesn't have a set or AK or he'd have called pretty quick.

He finally acts and calls. He has 88.

88 !!!!

I'm going "Thank you for calling !!!" I mean I could have had Kings (which I had) or 10's. I could have had a set. Or a flush/straight draw. Either way, there were a million ways for him to lose. And if I'm bluffing, he's got to remember that I called his re-raise to begin with so there's a high likelihood that I've got decent hole cards.

Well, you guessed it, he hits his f&^*ing 8 on the river to knock me out. I was knocked out in 74th place and the money was 54th. Had I hit that, I'd have been in the money for sure.

It's one thing to get beat straight up. But frankly, that guy had no business calling that bet. He had about 25,000 in chips but in no way was he pot committed.

It pisses me off when someone makes a really bad call and get's paid off for it, even when it doesn't happen to me. But I'm still steaming and I think that based on the size of the tournament, the amount that could have been won, and how close I was to the money, that probably ranks up that as my worst bad beat in my short poker playing career.

&%$# !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :@

I have no idea about Poker, but it sounds like you are annoyed. I am in the same mood, so I understand and here for you.

omg.

that makes the blood boil. i'm right there with you tx. to lose is bad, but to a gimp who is playing 8's. no business being in the hand.

Tex - that's why they call it gambling. Sorry you took a bad beat. You'll be on the other end soon enough.

It'll pass after you dig in to the Thanksgiving spread.

Funny as my wife said the same thing. Didn't help then either....hahahahaha

Bill mate, the money is hardly comparable but last night i played in a 180 man sit n go, 4;40 entry, ended up finishing second (won a cool 140 dollars). but shouldve won, lost 2 ugly hands in HU, one where tptk got beat by a river flush draw, the other where i went all in and he called for about 80% of his stack, my pocket ladies against his A8, he hits an A on the board obviously, cue lots of messages of 'you suck'. made me miss out on an extra 80 dollars. not much for some, but thats well the biggest win of my life in poker, so I was a bit steamed.

That does suck arse Bill, but that's why I hate mtts. You can play perfect poker for 5 hours and then some nob makes a thin call and sucks out leaving you with nothing.

He played it ok preflop, though a lot of people would have shoved all-in in his position. Would you have called that? On the flop, the way it's played, he's probably put you on a draw - flush and/or straight - which even then would be a straight race or a total bluff. He's made a very marginal call. I would have shoved preflop/folded flop in his position.

You were a 85% favourite when all the money went in, but obviously 15% of the time, the bad call sucks out. Unlucky.

I stick to cash games, where you get the chance to win the money back from the idiots.
