I know the tournament as a whole was pretty dire (but simultaneously fantastic), but the West German team beating a really strong Yugoslavia 4-1 in 1990 was also super impressive.

Both of those German sides were brilliant. For me, though, I like my German sides evil. You can't beat 1982 for that. Darth Vader would have blushed.

Probably biased but from what I remember we were the better side with 11 on the pitch. 98 was a good squad that underachieved quite badly at that tournament.

I think you were the better side with 10...

I watched it again the other night. Argentina were technically superior, but England were more direct, more spirited, and more courageous. With a bit more ruthlessness - Paul Scholes missed an absolute sitter for 3-1 - it would have been over within 90.

If we hadn't have messed up in the group stage against Romania we wouldn't even have had to play them

That Romanian side made a habit of beating that England team, mind. It was 3-2 two years later. I just think that England of that era were fundamentally flawed. Nothing much has changed in that sense. For Beckham getting red in 98, there was Rooney in 2006. Always seemed to be something with that side in that era.

Yes 2 years later was an even bigger underachievement. I think the main flaw has always been naivety
 
For anyone going to the Usa/Canada during June for the World Cup or otherwise, Tesco will be drastically reducing their prices for the month of June to make themselves competitive against e-sim technology.
I was in one of their in store phone shops today where the staff informed me, nothing online atm as it had only been announced to the staff today.
