2026 FIFA World Cup

They are also showing 40 World Cup classics which, frankly, is more exciting to a fella my age than what we are about to witness in Trumpistan. France-West Germany 1982, Belgium-USSR 1986, Holland-Argentina 1998, Brazil-Italy 1970, you get the idea...
I think that Belguim v USSR 1986 is the best game of football ever televised.

I can still remember Ron Atkinson, as co commentator saying that they only way he could describe the game was it felt like it was being played in both half's of the pitch at the same time.
End to end doesn't even begin to describe it.
Now 40 side to side passes to get out of your own half.

The 4-3 game? Astonishing. USSR were a top side in that tournament and could have gone much further.

With the World Cup I always worry if I miss one it may turn out to be the best game ever, mind you less likely these days with side-to side football & hot climate.
The smaller countries often have the more exciting games.
Hope VAR doesn't ruin it.

Must watch the above mentioned Russia match before it all starts.

Have to say the last World Cup was decent football wise and ended with one of the best finals ever played.

This World Cup could go like 94 which was ultra boring due to the weather at some of the venues.

Wonder how many games are going to be played in half empty stadiums early on? Going to be an embarrassment for FIFA when you take into account the prices and strict entry requirements in the US.

The ticket prices are a disgrace and Infantino is just as bad as Blatter when it comes to money.

The best final ever played IMO. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that it was the best sporting event of the 21st century thus far.

My guess is not many, and I’d like to remind everyone that for the few that are this World Cup doesn’t have any 45k seat stadiums to hide behind.

Russia's 3-1 win against the Netherlands in 2008 was also a special performance. Arshavin launched himself.

Having decided I want nothing to do with the Trumpian (Berlin 36 mark 2)World Cup that list has got my World Cup juices flowing.
I’m going to think about my list, with a glass or 2 of inspiration, and get back to you.
