The future is half empty stadiums made to look full using AI and other wizardry on screens all across the globe. The golden egg is being in the Premier league and getting all the financial sponsoring benefits that come with it, not Bill and Eddie from Scotty rd. The alternative is drop down a league or 2 where the local support is still needed. The game has been stolen off the working class.
I go Notts County and Ilkeston town now and i've literally enjoyed more games this season than I did at Goodison for the last few seasons.
Sure i'm not a true supporter of either but that means i can enjoy watching the games for what they are. It's good old fashioned football. At Goodison it just became the result was everything to me and I would put aside just how boring a lot of the games actually were as long as Everton didn't lose.
From an entertainment perspective lets face it this is not peak Premier League from many years ago anymore. Its more of a pass and possession exercise which bores the pants off a lot of us. Where are the Bergkamps, Zolas, Henry's, peak Rooney and Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes, Hazard etc where you could at least marvel at some of things they were able to do as footballers.
So as prices go up and up (and they will continue to do so for a while yet at least) what makes watching the Premier League at least exciting and entertaining to watch, for our ever increasing money spent in doing so, even if Everton don't win anything?
