I would guess that people will be waiting until they know how much it is actually going to cost before making a decision.
I don't think people not renewing can be laid at the current commercial departments door.
There are 2 main issues the first one is the number of midweek games and that is not the clubs fault. That could be eased if we qualify for Europe, I know that means more night games but it doesn't effect season ticket holders as they then have a choice whether to attend.
The other is the accessibility to and from the ground which could and should have been dealt with between the club and the council before the ground was opened.
Even this you can't totally blame the council for adopting a wait and see policy as the club under Kenwright ballsed up so many ground moves that the council probably didn't expect it to happen.
There was 96% renewals last year and I would expect about 90% this year as a lot of older fans find it a bit of a struggle, I personally was in row 60 for the last game and at 71 I do find it a bit of a climb and wouldn't even contemplate a slash at half time.
It's a weird one - qualify for Europe and there'll be very few Monday night games, but loads of Sunday 2pm kick offs and of course Thursday night European games galore. I'm still in two minds about renewing, but veering towards giving it one more year. My gut feeling is we won't make Europe, and there'll be only three or four Saturday 3 o'clocks next season. Based on this season, I'll make maybe half the games, will be able to offload my ticket to friends for another three or four, and the seat will remain empty for the rest especially if they're Monday nights. And that will probably end up costing me the same as picking and choosing the same number of games, plus I'll get to sit with my mate when I do go.

Anyway, you're right - the problem doesn't lie with the club but with the Premier League and Sky. I know that at some point I'll definitely give up the season ticket but if I'm representative of the doubters, yes there'll be at least 90% renewal if not more.

Some will fold, yes. But even if 10% walked away that'd be a significant statement.

As for those snapping up a ST: I bet there's loads on the waiting list looking on in horror at the limitations ST holders have faced this season transferring tickets etc and they'll think the better of taking one.

I'd agree with that last sentence - there's been no problem getting single match tickets and I would guess that half the people on the waiting list would run a mile if they actually got offered a season ticket - especially if it's back row behind the away fans or something like that. Having said that, there'll still be enough uptake to fill the full quota of season tickets if around 3 to 4,000 become available, even if they do have to offer it to the first 8 or 9,000 on the list,

I said before this move that it'd lead to some social engineering which takes the club in a different direction in terms of core support. That's obviously happening quicker than many of us expected. Yes, KO times and transport are contributing, but the whole ticketless, digital and walled in environment - as well as the cost of it all - is the key factor in the disenchantment.

In short: people are being ripped off and it's contributing to the alienation and that's got long term Everton fans walking away in droves.
Thats football in general, clubs don't actually want season ticket holders as they can make more money off day trippers.
I fear if we become successful the ordinary fans will be priced out of the game.

17% walking away from a ST at a brand spanking new stadium is a massive slap in the face for the club's commercial department.

They've spectacularly bollocksed this up.
I think it's more a case of the Monday night games putting people off. Well at least I've just read through the pages and that's what is mentioned most.

I think all clubs should take a stance and say no more to Monday nights, they are generally crap anyway.
Not sure how easy that will be but if the clubs know fans are cheesed off with Monday nights then they should be doing something about it.

There's a waiting list of people who will snap those up in a heartbeat. I suspect when it comes to the deadline for renewing, those 17% on here will have a sudden change of heart.
Not when they see the price hike and the new rules, structures and transferring of tickets

Everton are accepting these times and days for the cash. Other clubs are probably more discerning. It's a problem particularly for Everton fans.

They were either staff, seat unique or allocated to specific supporters club or travel partners. I am talking about availability of general admission tickets.
That wasn't my understanding tbh - aware I could be completely wrong though as I never saw any official info about it.

I thought they'd blocked out certain areas for various reasons. We saw this when people from the waiting list were given a chance to buy season tickets. All of a sudden seats became available that hadn't been available to people renewing, eg club view had looked sold out before, and then all of a sudden a hundred or so seats were available.

I assumed they'd done the same thing to make sure that there were a nice spread of seats available for the ballots - ie some seats were never available to choose for STH.

I’m in the same boat as you. Work generally gets in the way of mid-week games so I never signed up to the auto-cup scheme.
I’ll renew again this season and I’m inclined to stick with the seats we’ve got.

If the club made it easier to pass tickets on, that would be an improvement.

Anyone who chooses not to renew likely won’t be able to get a season ticket again in their lifetime.

The renewal rate will stay as its always done in recent years at about 98-99%.

Your National game is no longer just national or slightly Euro-centric, just like the NBA and NFL courted the world market. It's not about fans, it's about flogging a product. Yours just got more widely accepted due to its pre-existing global appeal. Pandora's box was opened and Everton was part of it so you can't run from it, try as you might.
