I don't think Palestine had much or anything to do with it tbf. When they sift through the voting patterns, I suspect the through line will be: Blokes just didn't want to vote for Kamala.

Whether that was because she is a woman, they preferred Trump or they are susceptible to the mountains of unchecked right-wing nonsense they have been bombarded with the over the last decade (a few previously normal lads on here have noticeably put the tinfoil hats on in recent times) it's hard to say. But whatever way you slice it, she struggled to get the male vote

But this sort of shift across many states can’t really be fully explained by that or “if only she had picked Shapiro” or “showed support for Gaza”


Perhaps it is a replay of “it is the economy stupid” - people really hate inflation and not many governments (of any flavor) have retained their holds after post COVID price increases.

If it's any consolation, the environment, Ukraine and Palestine were probably all boned either way, though the boning just got quicker and more ferocious

The US is defo not coming out of the next 4 years looking the same, but no point despairing about it. Life goes on and have to play the hand your dealt, even if that hand is the dumbest man alive having control over your country's future

As much as people called out the running mate of the Rep it looks like the Dems made a bad choice here with Tim Walz's who really is a nobody (not picking Shapiro from Pennsylvania shows as a glaring error), who when he had his chance to wipe the floor with VD simply failed.

Looking afar I think the fact Biden didn't resign and Harris wasn't the actual POTUS leading into the vote counted too. As if the Dems are willing to keep someone unfit for office, how can you trust their decision making process moving forward.

She was the wrong candidate, it would have helped them to have somebody who was not part of the current administration.

And someone who didn't fall to pieces when she had to give a meaningful, unscripted answer. Democrats never helped themselves by picking her as candidate.

This is the story. Tens of millions of Americans believe the economy is poor and crime is up. Both are manifestly untrue.

I had hoped we were better than this. Truth and character no longer matter in my country and there's no incentive for them to do so any longer. Certainly not in today's GOP.

Anyone claiming this outcome was clear might be shocked to know every GOP operative I know is completely stunned. None of them saw this coming.
