One of the British commentators on US politics mentioned a possibility of Biden winning the nominee but not actually running and nominating someone to take his place.

This may have been what you meant but wanted to clarify. If Biden wins the nomination of the party but decides to drop out before the election, he does not get to choose the party nominee. Per party rules, the DNC will decide who is the nominee. Dropping out also presents some challenges as state laws vary regarding how long before the election a party is permitted to change names on ballots.

Short of a huge health crisis or death, the probability of Biden being on the ballot as the Dem nominee is near 100%.

Again, this is not true in my book.
The Democrats arent an extreme ideological party.
Biden is an old man, too old, but the Democrats have made the decision that given his record and the fact that he beat Trump four years ago, he's their best chance of beating Trump again. It's a gamble, sure, but he probably stands as good a chance, or better, than a new candidate.

I fail to see how the Democrats, who are running a candidate who weeks ago said if Trump wasn't running, he wouldn't be, are the problem.

The problem here is the GOP.
There's no two sides/both sides....

Sure, Biden is old and showing all the signs of it but his record is good, or at least normal.

Also, I'm not a registered democrat.
But it blows my mind when people lump the two partys together.

Political parties are a spectrum, and while I agree with you on the whole, I have no problem saying that when you get far enough left, you lose me as it does become too far removed from what I personally would consider to be common sense.

With the right it’s just all of them because the logical ones who don’t kowtow to crazy like Cheney get exorcised completely.

No, I asked why people were saying Biden's health and cognition were obviously worse than Trump's. That diminishes the train wreck that is Trump's mind.

I'm not giving Biden a pass. We literally turn off the TV when a Biden speech comes on. It's cringeworthy and unwatchable. He should not be running for another term.

Again, everything must be seen through the lens of the alternative. Here in America, we have a binary choice.

And when there's a narrative that Biden is unfit for office, but Trump is fit as a fiddle, I have a real problem with that

And what’s even more frustrating is that the democrats could’ve spent 3 years prepping for and with someone new to take on Trump. They didn’t, and while you’ve previously said most democrats don’t want Biden again, he now has to because they didn’t spend 3 years getting ready for the inevitable which was another Trump nomination.

Yeah, and maybe it's because I didnt grow up here but I don't really see any far left politicians.
I really cant find any extreme views among the likes of Sanders or the squad.

To listen to people in the US who are concerned about the far left in the democratic party, you'd think these politicians were advocating for the government seising the means of production.

Some higher taxes, universal health care, affordable or free third level, affordable or free child care, environmental infrastructure and reigning in wall st. excess. Hardly Karl Marx.

The most left leaning thing in the US is military spending. But dont tell any maga heads

Didn't mean to rant about the difference between right and left, but a well advised senile Biden is a billion times better than an unadvised senile trump, and anyone who votes republican at this point needs their head checked.

If that's the case it was a gross miscalculation. If anything Jan 6 should've put them more on alert.

And it wouldn't have taken an Obama. A Buttigieg or Whitmer with that much time and backing I still think would've walked it. But ho hum. As Pittsburgh Footy said, here we are.
