Why, what was different?

Super rich got richer? Middle class got more squeezed? Social media drove an even bigger wedge through society? Foreigners got bombed? Basically exactly the same as every other Presidential administration, but with a slightly different flavour and slightly different spin depending on whether the person you prefer won or not.
I’d say women losing the right to chose, which they’d previously had for 50 years, was a pretty big change.

Yeah, like I say - a slightly different flavour. People voted for that. It's not controversial to be anti-abortion, it's a mainstream issue.

In the grand scheme of things, the system is still exactly the same. Designed to make the super rich richer and keep everyone else in their place, consuming.

Well for a start Trump literally incited an armed mob to try to overturn the election!!!

There were/are a host of other issues, such as a woman’s right to her own healthcare decisions, environmental laws, immigration, taxation policies and there will be vast differences with Ukraine, RFK Jnr being in charge of healthcare policy etc.

Puts on ignore before I say something I’d regret.

I don’t see the differences as being just a “slightly different flavour”. We’ve gone from it being protected at a Federal level to now a lot of states have absolutely no exceptions for the mother’s health, or cases of rape/incest. You’ve now got doctors afraid to provide lifesaving care to women because they’re afraid doing so will land them in prison. I’ll agree that being anti-abortion on some level isn’t especially controversial, but the laws that many states have enacted defy all common sense and are broadly unpopular.

And no, people didn’t vote for that. In fact any time it is put to a vote, people vote to protect those rights. EVERY TIME. The three people who were instrumental in stripping the rights away from half the nation were personally appointed by Trump and would have never been there otherwise.

It’s kinda like both parties operate within the framework of American capitalism? That doesn't mean both candidates are identical.

I've noticed a distinct lack of smug, holier-than-thou celebrities coming out with their "... if he wins I'm leaving America!" -type comments.

I just can't see enough of 2020 Democrat voters choosing to continue down the same path under Harris (she proudly came out and said she wouldn't have done anything different to Biden over the four years), especially in the swing states. I see enough of them being disenfranchised enough to go (back) to Trump.

Anyway, I've loaded up on popcorn and Gatorade for Wednesday afternoon's (my timezone) big reveal.

Be prepared to be disappointed if you think you’re going to know anything for sure on Wednesday. Unless Kamala wins it in a runaway. Otherwise, I’m expecting it’ll be Friday/Saturday before we know for sure just like in 2020.

Yeah I know that, but you at least get a good flavour for it. And I love watching it unfold over the course of the night in the US. The drama is exceptional.
