That is because he did that dave - the weird thing with Vance for example. Now he has been tamed by the machines into being the guy who repeats what the boss says.

I did say this before but this exactly what has happened with Vance himself - if he was going around doing his old routine and was repeating (or at least not denying and explaining) some of the criticisms he had of Trump that ticket would be doing better than it is. The biggest part of Trump's appeal to that sector of the electorate that will probably still choose who wins this race was that the current system is rigged and needs urgent reform and Vance could have done that. So could Walz, fwiw.

I am not sure why that is such a crazy idea, to say that you have disagreements with a person and that you'd do things differently - it is after all being honest with the electorate. Imagine if he said that, on being asked if he'd do what Pence did on Jan 6th, that he would follow the constitution (or even that he'd do what Pence did).

That would almost certainly result in that ticket getting more votes, possibly even enough votes.

Can you imagine the field day Harris supporting media outlets would have if Vance stated he disagreed with Trump on anything substantial? They'd make hay.
