I think Walz is good as well. Much less of a "politician" than Harris or Shapiro. More folksy. I think that plays here and balances the ticket
I think so. He is very relatable to a lot of white folks (read: moderate GOP) that are nervous about Harris

“Not a politician” might be so important in this election, I hope they go a bit outside the box and have him / Harris tour deep red states as well - make a real claim at seeking to get the whole country involved, proper unification etc. It will enrage Trump no end.

I agree. While I heard a lot about Shapiro being the favourite, and while I also like Pete, they both are what they are - highly educated intellectual types that, while there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, are lightning rods for MAGA land, for whatever reason.
Walz though is kind of an everyman. And he can go talk to people outside the cities and say look, I'm not a fire breathing coastal elite preying on your children and stealing your guns. I think he absolutely can make inroads in rural regions and take the temperature down.
Being a teacher I think is immense. Well versed in explaining difficult things and doing so without coming off sounding superior, condescending or too wonky.
First thing with a VP pick is “do no harm” (see Palin, Vance) and, unless there are significant skeletons in his background thatnhave yet to come to light, think that Walz does that.
