Current Affairs 2024 POTUS race

It means more resources to devote to advertising in swing states, more field offices, more... everything needed to turn out voters.
One of the rare instances I’m glad I don’t live in a swing state. The TV ads in MI/PA/WI/GA/AZ are going to be insane this fall.

It’s been bad enough here the past few weeks with the state house/senate primaries where the Republican candidates have been trying to out-MAGA each other.

All the swing state polls are moving in her favor. The money is massively moving in her favor. The Trump campaign is imploding and taking stupid gambles (NABJ?). Sizzle might be all she needs for now.

The convention is time for the main course.

Yes, money is important and so too is momentum. But I think you have to prepare for the day when Harris is not the novelty / shot in the arm to ABT voters she is now.

Her record is not stellar. She'll be judged on what she did as VP - nothing much as far as I can tell...or worse than nothing in some people's eyes, as per the border remit she apparently flunked.

If the autumn arrives and its neck and neck in the swing state race then maybe she can topple Trump and get a gap that overcomes the inevitable barriers to voting the Trump campaign can muster and the legal challenges ahead ratifying Harris's electoral college votes.

I'm just saying there's a big hill to climb for Harris still and all the triumphalism of seeing off Trump is way too premature.

My wife was watching MSNBC recently while I was making dinner for her. In the space of 4 ads were 2 Ted Cruz spots in English and another in Spanish. On MSNBC.

Seems full streaming is a good plan for the next 3 months.

And that's fair. I think if you'll read my previous posts you'll find I say the same.

My tagging of you in this convo was really about a previous comment you made regarding King Kotex's massive war chest lead over Harris. He simply does not have one.

The only way he competes with her on $$ is through potential super PAC money from tech broligarchs, fossil fuel barons and other assorted billionaires wanting tax/regulation cuts.

Better pay for the ad free plan. I was visiting my sister in SC back in June during the Republican primary, and they only have the lower tiers of streaming where you have to watch ads. 9/10 ads were for Nikki Haley. Sometimes the exact same ad 2-3 times in a row.

I'm pretty much the only one saying Kamala is defo going to win. Everyone else is just delighted that their previously bleak looking campaign hopes now have plenty of momentum and they dont have to worry about Biden falling asleep at a lectern anymore. Thats not triumphalism, its positivity

A shot in the arm for sure.

The fact is Harris is running against a cult and cults arent easy to defeat.

I detect something more than that. 🤷‍♂️

@davek you act like elections in the US are about policy. You are expecting WAY too much from us.

Is 250 years the mid-life crisis stage for countries?

I think it's more than just a beauty pageant though. The old saying: "It's the economy stupid" emerged from a presidential race and it has a lot of traction in elections, just as it will in this one. It wont just be a series of culture war clashes.

Has Bidenomics trickled down to the benefit of the 'middle classes' in the US? If so or if not will largely determine who wins the November GE.

I don't think Elections are about Policy in this day and age. It's a popularity contest.

Nobody voted Labour due to Policy.

People will vote for who ever wins them over.

Well I hope for your sake you didn't anyway.
