Looks like Shapiro will be her VP pick (announcement to be made in Philly next week)
I suppose he'll be fine but of all the choices, he and Kelly were towards the bottom for me.
It makes sense from a PA votes point of view.
I do worry that college campus protests might start back up in Sep. and the Harris Shapiro ticket may not navigate that well.
@Pittsburgh Footy any more info on him, what are your thoughts?

….as far as the betting is concerned he’s now a strong odds-on favourite.

Just googled Shapiro, he seems popular in his home State? Will that be a factor in picking him as Penn is a swing state?
Also, he's Jewish, will that also be a consideration as Trump is pushing that Harris is anti Israel?
I find US politics so much more interesting than our own!

As far as I know PA is the biggest swing state, as in the most electoral college seats awarded. He's also very popular there so that will be by far the leading factor in the decision making.
He's also a very good orator. Will do well campaigning.

Good news mate, thank you.
I've seen some news on polling today that Harris is still way behind in Penn
Hopefully this will be a big boost there.

Shapiro is viewed here as a moderate, reasonable Dem, former attorney general of the state. He's a good speaker. He wiped the floor in the gubernatorial election in 2022 over a pro-Trump nutjob.

Still, his rise nationally has been nothing short of meteoric. Would have thought he'd be governor and then perhaps make a run.

I still don't understand campus protests relative to what the other side would do. I think Harris can navigate that one b/c she can talk.

I agree on the campus protests.
But I still see it as a hurdle she has to jump.
She doesn't control campus cops or local police depts or even what way mayors or governors react.
yet if cops come in heavy handed on peaceful student protests again, it will damage the youth vote and wont help in Michigan.
Of course Trump would be worse, but that doesn't make this potential stumbling block go away.

Given what happened in Lebanon and Iran yesterday, this could all come in to play more and more in the run up to November.
