Here's an anecdote - One of my staff is an RFK supporter right now - and very clearly not someone who'd vote for Trump. We've talked openly about how ridiculous it is he's supporting RFK b/c of what's on the line but he's an idealist "we need to change the two party system", blah blah nonsense.

The sooner RFK gets out of the way, the sooner his people can go to Harris. Another reason RFK has been polling as high as he has been is b/c no one wanted either Biden or Trump - both too old. Well, only one of them is in the race now

I'll add Candidate Trump promised a "beautiful" wall paid for by Mexico. He built 47 miles of new fence, less than 3% of the border between the US and Mexico. US Border Patrol found the fence was easily penetrated by cheap tools available from Home Depot or Amazon. Two-thirds of the cost of this wall was taken from the Pentagon budget for educating the children of active-duty service persons.

I have not seen anything like the Vance implosion in US politics, ever. I’m in my mid 50s so my memory goes back as far as Reagan. I’ve seen lots of self inflicted wounds. Many gaffes, scandals etc. I’ve seen many bad VP candidates.

This is orders of magnitude beyond any of that.

JD Vance is a disaster. His special blend of negative personal charisma, flawed judgment, tactical incompetence, nonexistent moral compass and truly repugnant viewpoint is beyond compare.

If you were to design a human with as few redeeming qualities as possible you might end up with JD Vance.

I’m enjoying the flameout and couch memes are funny but otoh it’s an indictment of my country that this man is so close to power.
