Thanks that would make it difficult for her to make a push this late on, so probably either Harris or Newsom then. From what I have been reading the latest a nominee can be chosen is 19-22 August the DNC in Chicago. You would think he would have to withdraw at least a fortnight prior to allow proper discussions and campaigns to be ran.

The soft cut off date for the Dem nominee is probably before the DNC convention. There is a virtual nomination on the 7th of Aug to get the Dem nominee on the Ohio ballot. Dems won't win Ohio in the Presidential election. However, they will want their Presidential nominee on the ballot to help ensure the best chance for House & Senate Ohio seats.

Edit; the Dem nominee can be replaced after the convention, but that nominee will have to be Kamala Harris.
