Mr Kennedy Jr told The Telegraph: “I would not have run unless I had a reasonable expectation of winning.
“The speed at which our campaign has gained traction is a huge confirmation ... that America is ready for the vision and priorities that we are bringing into American politics.”
Mr Kennedy Jr’s poll numbers could be credited to his famous surname. Some pollsters argue his association with America’s most famous political dynasty has significantly inflated his numbers.
But his early traction is particularly alarming for the White House, given that Mr Kennedy Jr is a prominent vaccine sceptic who has often embraced conspiracy theories.
Asked about Mr Kennedy Jr’s challenge, Symone Sanders Townsend, a veteran of Mr Biden’s 2020 election campaign, said: “I’m trying not to laugh. There’s not going to be a challenge.”
“I really think the mealy-mouthed Democrats, as I like to call them, and some of their progressive friends who would like to live in a fantasy land need to come back to reality.”

How do you know who Biden will face? I'm sure they'll pump him up with amphetamines to make him look alert and give him the talking points via the ear piece again, but he'll still be shuffling off stages and shaking hands with himself. I think a debate Kennedy v Biden would be a slaughter. Obvious why the DNC wouldn't want it. How they think that helps them against whoever the Republican nominee is - baffles me.

Still a lot of time left to run until Iowa. Biden could have health problems. Trump could have the same, or go to the clink. Either way, there's a candidate stampede on that side of the fence if it happens.

The latest numbers are quite sobering. People think that somehow Biden is the only candidate who can defeat Trump, but that doesn't track. Dems are killing themselves again by not finding someone younger and more energizing. Biden is basically the "not Trump" candidate, which offers little, at least to me.
