See the smear campaign against Bernie is in full flow now. Conveniently a couple of days after Trumps campaign aknowleged he was a threat.

He's now apparently mysogenistic, stating a woman cant be president, even after multiple videos have surfaced of him actually saying the opposite.
This happens to everyone who tops the polls.
Sanders sent his volunteers out with scripts to trash Warren despite agreeing not to.
Buttigeig has been trashed for not disclosing his Mckinsey work or his donors or his relationship with African Americans.
Warren has been trashed for not being working class/likeable enough.
But Biden has been trashed by far the most, for pretty much everything.

As soon as there is the slightest Democratic criticism of Sanders, the paranoia kicks in.

As a woman raised in straitened circumstances in Oklahoma who rose by putting herself through school, being labeled an elitist is a monument to Elizabeth Warren's achievements. She's not a socialist but she's not my class enemy either.

(Socialism isn't a sine qua non for me and I tend to see Bernie Sanders having cleaved to the same politics he espoused in 1968 less as a mark of Authenticity™ than as either an overlarge faith in the practical applicability of political abstractions or a failure of imagination. If Sanders wins the nomination, though, you bet I'll vote for him in the general election.)

I think pretty much everyone who doesn't vote for him in the Primaries would vote for Bernie in the General if he gets the nomination.

My worry is that I have concerns over whether the same can be said for HIS supporters.

Every time I see "elitist" being used as a slur, it reminds me of this from during the 2008 campaign:

Among his more online supporters I see a lot of talk that reminds me of Trump's fanbase, not in terms of priorities but of certainties. Certainty paired with principle isn't especially compatible with (what they used to call) liberal democracy.

But as with all online phenomena, it's tough to evaluate how much of it translates to the real world, so called.

A'yup. George W Bush benefitted a lot from our weird views of what constitutes elitism. It's like we think its purely a descriptor of manners and vocabulary and not at all a gauge of wealth and power.

Exactly my point - no he didnt

he is in no position to control all of his volunteers or their possible wrongdoings.
Which is a perfectly fine way of looking at things as long as you apply it to all candidates.

I personally do think that candidates (all of them not just Bernie) have to shoulder responsibility for the actions of their staff - even if they had no knowledge of their actions in advance. It is part of being a leader - setting up clear guidelines on what is/isn’t acceptable conduct/messaging and ensuring that everyone knows what they are.

I generally prefer a “the buck stops here” attitude rather than a “they did that without my authorization” approach though.

watching the debate atm, god Biden looks and sounds soo old, Sanders is also as old, but he doesn't make gaffes Biden does all the time.

The problem with Buttigieg is that he talks like a robot, so fake, so already prepared, not humane enough.

Warren or Sanders for me still.
