Andrew Yang not in the mix?
Rarely heard a more data-orientated politician (wannabe politician really) speak - of course the second he opens his mouth it's obvious he has no chance, but maybe a role in the cabinet is realistic [think he had a peripheral role in the Obama administration].

If you have time check out his Joe Rogan interview - it's actually weird to hear a politician speak in such a joined-up, analytical way. Very non-presidential though.

Trump does kinda suggest believing TV personalities can be good leaders is perhaps a bit naive. The US is one of the most enterprising places on the planet, so it's hard to believe there isn't a leader in the entire country that isn't a septuagenarian white bloke.
Tell you what though, if I had to choose a TV personality to be President, Oprah would be so far ahead of Trump he would be a dot in the distance. Which given his girth is no mean feat.

Don't mention Vince, or Joe will feel compelled to say something about the Post Office being sold too cheaply. Joking aside though, it's not ideal when so many political leaders seem to be old, white blokes.

I would vote for @ joey 66 if it meant investment and the end of Ayn Rand experiments with the public service.

candidates are only every a means to an end.

black cat, old white male cat - so long as it catches mice, it's a good cat

The policy argument is far less relevant now than it was in 2016. The Democratic Party has moved much more into line with Bernie's policy suggestions.

they would certainly prefer us to think that

but 'Medicare For All' means many different things, when you start looking beneath the surface, and depending on who wins, it might not even mean that. Pelosi certainly wasted little time meeting with Health Insurance executives to assure them that the Party was committed to preventing single-payer

Bernie isn't the right choice this time round (as much as I think he was in 2016). The demographics that the Dems need to turn out in 2020 are the exact ones that Bernie was weakest with. And it doesn't help that an appreciable minority of his supporters online (the "Bernie Bros") seem to think that alienating women is the way forward.

ugh... this again. serves me right for starting the thread in the first place.

curious how despite being such a racist, he manages to poll higher among non-whites than any other candidate, and at a higher favourability rate than he does among white voters

Well the fact that he declared in November and I (as someone who listens to pretty much every US politics podcast out there, and spends far too much time reading articles etc) had no idea he was running... kinda suggests it's not going great

Pretty sure I never said he was a racist?

He's running on a platform of universal basic income, so fair to say he's chosen a hard road...

Hopefully Sanders or Gabbard but it'll probably be Harris as they seems to be the candidate being pushed by the DNC and media.
