Yeah that's my point though they are old enough to contribute to society so why not vote and have a say in how society is run?

Isn't that then point then? You're an active, working and contributing member of society at 16 and should be allowed a say on the way the country is run.

16 is very young. I was definitely not mature or responsible enough at 16 to be allowed to vote. Personally think 18 is fine.

Of course they'd be allowed to vote if the age was brought down to 16, but the point was, at 16 you can do more or less everything you can do at 18 so why the need to wait two years to have a vote on your future? It's pointless in my opinion.

No idea why the age is 18 anyrate. Like you say, its pretty pointless, but in the wider context, it doesnt really bother me either way.
