There's no suppose so about it. Ralph Miliband was painted as an enemy of the state. Quite fascistic, really, especially when you consider he was anything but.

You just carry on being sniffy about anyone stating facts about Tories, though. It's a good look.

It's just interesting that two days ago sympathy was extended to Rudd when it made May look bad (justifiably so) yet now she's fair game. It's a fascinating moral compass.

No matter what happens next week, I am taking heart from this election campaign insofar as I had thought the Tories would be in power for the next twenty years ergo I would in all probability never again see a Labour government.

But if we can be in with even a snowball's chance of at least forcing a hung parliament this time from such a forlorn starting position then I live in hope of seeing the Tories booted out at least one more time

Venceremos, comrades ;)

For me it's less about the huge amount of borrowed money and more about the realistic amount that can be achieved in five years. We're in the most important negotiations of our time, and assuming we do actually leave the next parliament will be dominated by managing Brexit. Even aside from the almost inevitable economic hit it will bring (short-term at the very least), it will also consume a huge amount of government resources, both in negotiations themselves and then managing the aftermath. That's likely to be enough for most parliaments in our lifetime, but on top of that Corbyn wants to nationalise railways, utilities and the post office, micro-manage labour contracts, oversee huge infrastructure investments and goodness knows what else.

Not only is such a wishlist likely to be hugely unrealistic, Brexit itself is going to add enough chaos and uncertainty to markets, without all of this extra change and uncertainty on top. It's a recipe for disaster.

Why do you refer to the Labour manifesto as a wish list?

It's quite odd, because it was a decision made at the beginning of the campaign. Then, I thought it was because they believed that they didn't need to do much, so it's better not to risk anything and still win. But now the polls are narrowing and they're still refusing interviews and debates, I'm convinced it's more because they know she is so bad at it and she will put voters off.

She might be negotiating Brexit terms.

I won't be voting Conservative either. I would just like someone remotely competent to oversee an incredibly difficult period, and if they had an inkling of the liberal values that so define us as a nation that would be even better. Alas, such people seem in short supply.

Seem to recall the press being rightly vilified for saying stuff about Ralph Miliband last time out. I know she's a Tory so obviously fair game for any tactic, but still.

The 'stuff' about ralph milliband was speculation and about what he thought rather than what he did.

Rudd's dad being a thief is pertinent because it highlights tory hypocrisy.

Forget about her dad. The family company paid zero tax for the years she was in charge of it, despite turning over healthy profits annually.

It's not about what he did, but the timing of it. Milliband was criticized during the election to try and discredit Ed as a loony lefty. Mr Rudd is being used for the same reason now. Just seems a bit off to me to be using him to score points when he's barely been buried, especially as May was rightly criticized for exposing Amber Rudd to the TV debate days after his funeral on account of being heartless.

I've only heard the term 'wish list' used in the media in reference to the Labour manifesto, is if it's some ideal which has no chance of ever being able to be delivered.

Personally, I don't think so. As I said previously, this parliament will be tough enough due to Brexit and all that comes with it. Attempting to change society to the extent Corbyn wants to on top of Brexit is madness imo.
