How can a good Labour leader not get a landslide on that logic Don?
That's what miffs me a great chance to beat them, and a stupid £3.00 membership gets him in as leader plus union man with more brawn than brains!
Any decent leader not Jezza , and it would be a Labour win - no Tory landslide they predicted - I never thought that just dismay that it's a maybe missed opportunity by a back bencher who opposed everything to do with the Labour movemen a Rebe without cause!
Sad but true if he gets in then good on him but I fear he will lose!

The pressure on the public sector workers is massive Tim; they do not have profits. A private sector company who wants to get a product to market can invest in staff to drive that. Public sector has increasing workloads with decreased staffing levels.

Teachers with bigger classes, hospital workers with bigger waiting lists and less staff. Look at LCC, 60% reduction in staff but the city as grown. An increase in workload with a massive decreased in staff

Oh, and they pay taxes as well

I know a head teacher who had a choice of keeping on an extra teacher, and thus make classes smaller (and keep the poor bloke in a job), or he could run after school French club. He bowed to parent pressure and kept the french club. And the bloke lost his job. And it made me angry.

Those in charge of budgets act in their own interests. And that interest is to pass stress onto those below them and then blame the government. I see it all too often. Money doesn't grow on trees.

Joey - Corbyn won the vote of Labour members. He got nearly 49% of them, not counting the affiliated vote or the £3 people.

The national debt has gone up mate

Debt vs deficit.... there is a big difference. The deficit needs to come down first.... and it has been doing so. When the deficit has been eliminated, then the debt can start to come down. This is basic and important economics that so many fail to grasp.....

The only way the Tory's could have prevented the debt from rising further would have been to inflict the most severe, immediate and brutal spending cut imaginable. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

My job is demoralising some days too, but it pays the bills.

Public sector has been used for decades of getting everything it wanted, and this caused a culture of waste and inefficiency. And we need to overhaul the management who refuse to improve efficiency. It's their fault that the unneccessary stress is passed onto the lower staff like nurses. These people are great and to be trasured, but these people pay the price for their bosses ineptitude and instead of actively looking to help those below them, they go straight to the government.
"Efficiencies " see short cuts, work not done anymore, staff working longer hours for no extra pay etc etc etc

It's not about the public sector always getting what it wants it's about what the public want from it's public services. They are under huge strain and have been for years and you can't always blame upper management as much as I'd love to. Budgets are cut from central government managers have to deliver it.. that's the government not managers.
