Dont get that.

He has to appeal to the electorate. Or what, exactly, is the point? So he can judge the "Who agrees with me more?" competition?

You might not like the reality, but he comes across as the equivalent of a Student Union debater. All very nice and that, but the other 20m folk he has to persuade to agree with him, wont.

And thats from someone who isnt really that arsed.

I agree - but surely the point is that they (the internal Labour opposition) aren't any more popular than he is, in fact there is ample evidence to suggest that they are markedly less popular than him. The latest polling has Labour, without any help from them, with a same share of popular support as Miliband got at the last election. If he gets that, or gets a better share of the popular vote than Miliband did, then what is the point of them?

The ones that don't follow are the reason the party is lost. He may never be PM but he's the ideologue they need to wake the party up from the sleepwalking centrist fluff they've served up over the last generation. You'll never appeal to everyone in politics so why try. I see Corbyn as someone who is who he is and if you're not on board, that's fine, he's not going to artificially change to appease you.
refreshing, and maybe laying a platform for the next time round (in 18 months :) )

I find it refreshing and so do many of the people that voted him in as leader but for whatever reasons (and I'd say it is a mixture of himself, the party not supporting him, the constant drip drip drip "Corbyn is crap" of the media and maybe - unlike some other countries - the electorate not being sufficiently pissed off with things yet) he hasnt become the anti estalishment candidate that Bernie Saunders (or even Trump) became in the USA.

I'm not sure I can ever see him overcoming the above so doubt he'll be around to try again next time

Personally, I think labour need to stay left on economics and go to the right socially to become electable again.

That means, support brexit, support defence, support policing, support nuclear, support border controls, support grammars. But stay clearly to the left on economics. Ie workers rights, high top tax, take minimum wage out of income tax, increase CGT, tighten up on corporate tax rules, spend on services like NHS, schools, infrastructure, etc.

That's my take on how they become electable not my own views. Although some are lol

Admittedly labour are at risk from being squeezed from both sides, but they need to target tory voters and liberals not green voters.

But Labour do support Brexit, defence, policing and nuclear.

They had I think 11 brexit supporting MPs. So don't think they can claim to support it. They need to be positive about it, not merely saying we won't block it. They aren't strong enough on the other issues mentioned and public sees tories are stronger in those areas.

being to the right socially is very different in the UK than it is in the US!
Stuff like Brexit, military spending, border controls would all be seen as economic issues. I dont think anyone should addopt the right wing social issues we have!
Anyhow, good to read about it all on here, genuinely get a better feel for it than trying to read or watch media outlets!

Eh? Labour MP's voted for the Brexit bill 191-65. Just remember that the Prime Minister leading the negotiations campaigned for remain - I don't think you can accuse Labour of not backing Brexit.

#MaysBritain

Why's that then. Did she do it or the Police. Do you think she authorised the words. Was there a possibility of terrorist activity. Is there an issue of aggressive begging. Have any crimes been carried out as a result. How many complaints have been received about begging. Or, just maybe, we should find out why this was done........

Labour can't now claim they are strong on brexit after being so strongly remain. That doesn't wash with voters.
