Capoue would be out of our price range. Well, who isn't. He'd have been perfect for Chelski before Luiz got put in defensive mid, and would probably suit Arsenal now Arteta is injured. We don't have the funds though and if we did I'd rather us have Mertens - he's Belgian.

Only way this would happen is if Felli goes. Fellaini's better - let's keep him.

In the Red: Liverpool close in on Norway defender Everton can't afford

14 Jan 2013 22:30
Moyes has been watching £4m-rated Vegard Forren for months but Toffees' traditional lack of cash looks set to see him join their arch-rivals instead

Liverpool have moved ahead of rivals Everton in the £4million race to sign Molde defender Vegard Forren.

Forren is due at the Reds’ Melwood training ground on Tuesday to begin a trial ahead of a possible switch to Anfield.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his centre-back options and feels the Norway international fits the bill, but he faces competition from Southampton.

Rodgers’ move is bound to upset Everton boss David Moyes, who has been tracking Forren for months.

Moyes went to watch him play in Norway, but - stop us if you've heard this one - lacks the cash to buy him in the current transfer window.

Forren, 24, has also attracted interest from Manchester United, Fulham and Sunderland, and his agent Jim Solbakken is in England to negotiate his transfer.

“I know there is interest from different clubs, but I don’t have a good overview of the situation,†said Forren, who rejected a move to Bruges earlier this month.

“I am not ruling out other leagues, but I have said that I am keen to go to England.

“For me, the Premier League is the best place to play. That is what we are working on.â€

Sick and tired of us being poor.
