Wages are a problem with this deal though

I'm told They can't afford or even come close to his wages . If we were city or lpool we'd make it up and he'd go but with us unless he takes about a £35k hit (which lets face it he's not going to or at least it'd be staggering , suprising & reassuring if he did) it won't happen . Clubs are in for him and he's shown no desire to be flexible if anything the opposite is true .

I'm sure they'd love him but that strikes me as lazy journalism to be honest .

...I suspect it might have to be one out before we get one in. Thats where we must look like a key stone cops club, agreeing a deal with a player then saying he can only sign you when/if somebody else leaves. I think we have players lined up but there will be brinksmanship and our deals might go to the wire.

They can afford it if it was a one off, Ajax are not a poor club nor are they rich but they could afford his wages but the problem is that it ruins their wage structure which is agreed upon by players, management and the board and heitinga would break that. Once broken then it puts the whole club in jeopardy because their top earners are on like 15-25k a week and as soon as the wage structure gets broken then other players will want more

they love him, he loves them and it would be his ideal destination but unless he is flexible it wont happen

The Times is claiming we have agreed a £6m fee with Real Madrid for right winger Pedro Leon, who is currently on loan at Getafe.

Apparently Leon is 'reluctant to leave Getafe though '.

Having read his wiki he doesn't exactly sound like our type of player though, as he's a bit of Drenthe-type character; bombed out of Real by Mourinho for fighting with teammates.

Dont think he's as bad as Drenthe but he is a good player!. Was at Getafe before and did well, which led Real Madrid to sign him but he never got a look in there so Madrid loaned him back to Getafe. We was apparently in for him then aswell on loan but he wanted to go back there.

Think weve always had a liking for Pedro Leon but im not sure he wants to leave Spain. Anyway, we couldnt afford him now, might be something to persue in the summer?!.

Sorry mate yeah they aren't skint but they aren't paying £65k to a centre half from what I'm told ...

Johnny if anything wants more not less so I'd be surprised if he went there .

Love is a 'wonderful thing ' but £35k a week for 4 years is nearly £7m an equally if not more wonderful thing .

According to this link, Heitinga could well be off to rejoin his boyhood club Ajax

"We start in England, where we the tabloids, of course, with a hefty grain of salt. But we start in Liverpool, where John Heitinga huge would be unhappy at Everton. The 29-year-old Defender would want to leave as soon as possible, with The Toffees. Even though he came sixteen of the 21 competition games this season in action, Heitinga would like to return to Ajax where he played from 1990 to 2008.The 85-fold Orange-international in Amsterdam the replacement would need to be of Toby Alderweireld, which precisely again in the interest of three English clubs: Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Ajax wants the 23-year-old Belgian lost until next summer at the earliest, actually but that makes for Heitinga. He wants this transfer period already return to his great love."

I dont think this sounds so definite.

Is this his new nickname or something?

Wont none of the Turkish sides give him what we pay him, or is no one interested at that?!.

We still asking round for right backs mate?

some really random rumours going on at the minute, yet i still have to pop my head in this thread to look. Why do i do this to myself haha.

I've learnt by now you can't second guess Moyes he very rarely is after any player that is in the media speculation roundabout so i'm going to just sit back and see what happens.
