10 years in, holding a slim lead is still Moyes' Plan A.

We used to average a point a game in the old days, played 13, 13 points, just above the drop zone with a negative goal difference....

times have changed, we've got 21 from 13 with a +6 GD and are above Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Villa.

And in the mid-80s, we won league titles and cups, what's your point?

The 80's are a lifetime ago.....

If this thread is a reflection of Moyes' tenure, then we're in a bad run of form but we're streets ahead of where we were when Moyes took over, if you'd been offered where we are now in the dying days of the walter smith reign, or during kendalls 2nd spell, or during Mike Walkers tenure you'd have jumped at it.

Chelsea have spent more on paying managers off than Evertons net spend under Moyes, with Gibson out, Fellaini suspended, Coleman out, Neville out...we were a stoppage time equaliser away from beating a team in good form.

Chin up, there's another game soon

**** happens!!

And tbh our team without the players we got missing at the moment is a 6th - 10th place team.

The squad was always an issue as its proving at the mo. Add to that some other key personel (pienaar jelavic Johnny ect) out of form, it was inevitable these results would happen.

Hopefully this is our blip. Luckily arsenal spurs Liverpool Newcastle ect are equally as bad!

A lot of hoofing has been creeping back into our game for a few weeks now, we are drifting back into his prefered way of playing. It was never going to last.

I think that point made above by Greek Fisherman about Moyes only trusting 15 or so players is spot on. He's a very conservative manager, and the waiting and waiting on Distin's fitness yesterday rather than simply going with Duffy is a good example of that.

One thing he doesn't have a luxury with though, I suppose (and it's one he's used quite well in the past) is a series of Europa League matches to experiment in. That's how Rodgers has brought a few through this season by using that competition. Overall though Moyes is not prone to bringing young players through beyond a superficial introduction followed by long periods out of the team. The widely acknowledged ability of the club to bring players through from the academy to first team is fast becoming a myth. We do not have a young team and he's set to extend contracts to older players. We're going backwards as an organisation in that respect and it's all feeling very stale.

That's how I used to measure how well we were doing on the ceefax league table, if we were over say 15 points after 15 games it was going well.

I also seem to recall that we always used to have won, drawn and lost the same amount of games. So if you were wondering what the score would be after we'd won 4, drawn 4 and lost 3, you knew we'd lose.

At least we're unpredictable these days

So if we beat Arsenal on Wednesday and get a point at City next weekend, where will the detractors here stand then?

If, if, if. Fact is we've won 1 of the last 7 against some very average teams and it doesn't look like changing anytime soon.

We won't, we will get a point off Arsenal and lose to city.

Why mate?

I hate seeing Evertonians talk like this. Arsenal just had a terrible performance at Villa who are awful. They are well beatable. Not many get results against City but if anyone will it'll be us.
